Revis used to be able to demand a ton of money because he was the best CB in the game but he should really just hang it up at this point. He looks old, slow and uninterested out there.
Rodgers and McCown run a lot, hell rodgers was hurt on the run. Not the best argument to use. Its pretty simple 101, quarterbacks are more likely to get hurt the more they get hit. "running" quarterbacks take more hits. It's not a bias against any player or any style really its simple math
But McCown didn't get hurt running he got hurt in the pocket this year. Rodgers was scrambling around looking to throw the football, someone fell on his shoulder or whatever. So it is not as simple as you say. Does that really categorize as the "running QBs" the person I quoted was describing? RG3, was extremely reckless in the NFL; look at how he took those hits. Watson, Jackson are smarter then that.
Watson is more of a pocket passer than both Jackson and RG3. Idk if I would even categorize him as a "running QB." Watson's going to get hurt a lot though in the NFL because he's got a small frame. but again, its not about individuals even, its about volume of hits. Jackson is going to take a lot of hits in the NFL. That's going to lead to injuries whether he's tough or smart or not. If you want to look at it from an individual comparative standpoint though, an appropriate comparison in some ways to Jackson is Tyrod Taylor. They both are smart, tough players who run with the football a lot. Taylor gets smashed every single week. He's tough and he's a smart player but even he can't shake off getting smashed over and over like that
Players have to be smarter, wherever you are a running QB or a pocket passer you are at risk. Jackson might take a lot of hits but it depends on how smart he is. There are a lot of hits you can avoid. Does he avoid the big hits? Alex Smith is a great example of a running QB that doesn't take a lot of hits while scrambling but is still effective. Taylor is smart too, and is very durable. They avoid the bigger hits.
Before clicking this thread I was thinking it was about Mike Maccagnan being interested in trading (a 5th rd pick à la Brandon Marshall) for Alex Smith to be the Jets starting quarterback which allows the Jets to draft BPA every round in the 2018 Draft. My bad.
KC also figured out that they can now transition to Patrick Mahomes and have a chance to go beyond just making the postseason in 2018. The Jets better not touch Alex Smith.
I think the guys who believe a white knight FQB is going to walk through the door and magically transform the Jets into a Super Bowl winner, simply because he was a high draft pick, are the real schmucks. Mark Sanchez says, Hi, there!"
Revis fell off once he left the Jets the first time. Belichick managed to get something out of him in their SB year (he still wasn't the force he was in his first time with NYJ). After that he was pretty worthless.
Ouch. In before the "we ruined Sanchez". Imagine the poor me sobbing that could be on the horizon. It's colossal. Or Mac signs Cousins or somebody instead of gambling and drafts Chubb. It's gonna be YUUUUUUUGE.
Well, there's something to be said for beating Buffalo in a playoff game. For being in the playoffs and beating the Bills are two good things!
OMG. I just had the bone-chilling thought that maybe the Jags sign Cousins, dump Bortles, and Maccagnan picks him up.
Lol. No way, Petty and Hack have to be better than him, right? This is gonna be some crazy off-season
"At the end of the day we feel really good about Blake, and we felt like a 2nd round pick on Alex McGough gave us a good chance of filling the position long term".
I wouldn't go that far, LOL! After all, he actually gets on the field, he's still in the playoffs and he got the Jags there without Allen Robinson.
