He has a strong arm , The only reason some of use are hearing that his arm strenth wasnt a strenth was becasue at the combine when he worked out for alot of teams he had a bad ankle injury and he couldnt really plant and put alot into his throws so basically its alot better then the scouts said due to the injur and he does in fact have a strong arm , i mean cant use see that lol ?

I read the draft reports that he arm was average. He must have taken steps to improve this bc he has some serious mustard on the balls he threw in garbage time against the Bills.

I really like his release. It's quick and he throws a tight spiral... His arm strength may not be "+" but its NFL quality. I was talking to some Oregon fans the other night at a Halloween party (dressed as Ducks of course) and when they weren't drooling all over dennis dickson's nuts, they described Clemen as a good leader with a good arm, but said his negative was he wasn't mobile and he throwed a lot of interceptions before his senoir year.

The gist of this is correct even if it is barely legible. He was hurt at the combine and could not throw properly. His arm is much stronger than what was reported by scouts at the combine.

He was a leader at Oregon.
    He has a good arm.
He isn't going to run like Steve Young, but he can move around in the pocket as we saw on the shovel pass play on Sunday.
He threw 24 interceptions in 37 collegiate games. He attempted 1,015 passes.

    Cakes,

Your a Ducks fan correct? You saw Clemens play many a times in College. I know it probably means nothing now but what is your gut feeling on him and how will he do?

61 TDs to 24 INTs, petty nice ratio for his college career.

They are not my favorite college team, but they have been one of my favorite teams to watch through the years.
My gut feeling was he would be a quality NFL QB. He has the necessary talent. He showed a lot of moxie in college. He looked to have smarts on the football field. I didn't see any ridiculous interceptions. I didn't see any boneheaded decisions such as taking a sack as opposed to throwing the ball out of bounds in a 2-minute drill. I certainly didn't see anything close to what that California QB did a couple weeks ago to end the game and knock his team out of the national title picture.
Therefore, Clemens will not be like Jeff George or Elvis Grbac or Aaron Brooks. Those guys regularly made dumb decisions in games.

Because I watch many Pacific-10 games, I also saw Derek Anderson play quite a few times. I believe Kellen Clemens is a better QB than Anderson. Anderson was highly erratic at Oregon State. Not just from game-to-game, but sometimes from drive-to-drive. He has played alright for Cleveland this year, but has still been erratic. Anderson threw a moronic interception against the Patriots. He also had ups and downs within the Oakland game, one week after he carved up Cincinnati.

I think Clemens will at least be similar to Dave Krieg, Matt Hasselbeck, Brian Sipe, Jim Hart, and Chris Chandler. They were all guys who had a number of good seasons and maybe a couple great ones. I think if certain things go right for Clemens (i.e., the Jets get a good offensive line and defense and he stays healthy), then we're talking about a level above Krieg and company.

I would be shocked if Clemens is a bust (unless it was directly related to suffering a horrible career-ruining injury).
I would not be surprised one bit if he becomes a top five QB in the league.

Thanks Cakes that is good stuff. I think the fact he was brought along slowly (too slowly for my tastes) will work in his favor. I also liked the fact he did not shrivel up in the Ravens game. It really does give you hope.

After watching Clemens come in the game, the difference in the velocity of his passes as opposed to Chad's was more than noticible. His ball actually got on the receivers in a hurry. I thought that some of the dorpped passes were due to receivers not expecting the ball so soon... His arm is better and at this point that will have to do....

My 7 Year old gets the ball there faster than Chad.

Chad throwing the ball any intermediate distance HAS ALWAYS been a hold your breath moment.

After watching Chad for so long, it's going to take a couple weeks for Clemens to not look like Brett Favre......

I think he is known to have a strong arm. All the analysts talk about is, but mauybe they are talkign in comparison to Chad. Either way, arm strength is far down the list of important characteristics....but it would be nice to see him hit a WR who breaks free of a corner in stride 50 yards down field.

Actually from what I remember it was the reverse. Many scouts under estimated his arm strength until, he surprised everybody at the combime. I believe he had one of the higher RPMs (what that means) at the combine.

Kellen Clemens is alot like Drew Brees...a little bit shorter than 6'2"...weighs over 225 and is a smart guy.

I think if anything, Kellen Clemens has a better arm than Drew Brees.\

Not to say that is makes him a better QB, but it is nice to have a strong arm.

I can't wait to be at the meadowlands this Sunday...I am hoping for a romising game from KC.

KC can hit our receivers so hard that he can actually alter their DNA. Decades from now their descendants will occasionally clutch their hands and yell "What The Hell was That?"
