We'll never improve this team if we keep forcing the issue of taking a QB early. Clearly Zach Wilson was not the 2nd best prospect in all of college football in 2021. Confident to say that if he was drafted by some other team, - perhaps any other team, - the same end result would have occurred. I'd much prefer to spend the earliest draft picks on OT + OG. We're currently between 6th + 8th overall. Its going to be very hard to pass on a Rome Odunze but we just don't have the luxury of picking WR at this time. We HAVE to get back to focusing on the O-line. Aaron Rodgers will just have to make do w/what we give him.
I’m kind of in on the Cowboys method at this point too. A good offensive line and mostly average or shit players everywhere else can usually at least will a team to in the 7-10 to 9-8 range with a veteran QB. The Cowboys are the only team that consistently take first round offensive lineman (even considered reaches at the time) and they’re always good. What a way to develop a young QB too. Dak has been sacked more than 30 times twice in his 8 year career.
Pearsall kept popping on the film when looking at Anthony Richardson last year. I was impressed. I think he will end up close to that projection for that reason. Same player, even same production even, for Central Michigan or something and he doesn't stand a chance at the 3rd round. But everyone and every scout was closely looking at Anthony Richardson film last year undoubtedly thinking wow who is that number 1 kid catching all his passes
Tahj Washington declared for the draft and decided to play in this bowl game tonight when most of the big time USC players opting out. 50 yards and 2 touchdowns so far. Fast but very small. Looks like he’d make a really good slot and dudes feisty as hell down the field. Would be a very interesting day 3 pick IMO.
Tre Harris from Ole Miss doesn’t have gawdy numbers like a lot of spread receivers usually have but good fucking lord can the kid navigate the sidelines and jump out of the building on 50/50 balls. Not sure where he projects or how he’ll run but he’s a low recruit originally from a G5 school that competes like a motherfucker for the rock.
All three of the Washington receivers are ridiculous but of course mainly Rome Odunze. I think I’m firmly against the first round QB for the Jets but Penix makes it difficult to stand on that. He’s absolutely balling and has fucking pinpoint accuracy on deep balls.
He balled last night. That TD throw with 10 minutes left in the 3rd was a fucking dart. His injury history absolutely concerns me though. I would love Odunze with our pick, but holy shit it would be hard to pass on an OL like Fuaga. Screw Latham, that guy played like ass last night
Better for us. More QBs before we pick the better. Would be incredible to somehow get Caleb, Maye, Daniels and Penix before we pick at 8-11.
at #10, lots of options. I think our three targets will be 1. The OT from Oregon State, think Alt and the Penn St kid are gone. 2. Rome Odunze, I think Nabers goes ahead of him. Maybe he's around? 3. Trade back for Mims or someone like that. What's hard is the OT's may not be able to fill LT where we are picking. I think we need to bring back Becton, like it or not..
Latham is too. I try not to scout colleges over players but Georgia and Alabama offensive lineman haven’t had a great run as of late other than Andrew Thomas (who is ironically perpetually hurt) and Dickerson. They’re all usually huge and just get by with size in college.
Very unlikely Nabers will be there for our pick. I love Nabers as well, dude is a stud. Off the top of my head, I think he had 84 or 86 catches last year and 50% of them went for 15+ yards. The guy is so effing electric. He has drawn a lot of DJ Moore comps. I also heard something yesterday that Nabers is one of the few receivers who can actually maintain his speed in and out of his breaks which is what made Antonio Brown so damn good. No one could cover him b/c of that trait. Nabers has that ability.
I mean, Becton was all character issues his first two years. Now he's playing, and it's esentially his rookie year. Never was able to learn from sitting. Have to know who is lazy and who is not. Is Mimms 360 lbs because he is lazy? Will they get a sense of his accountability elsewhere? If they feel he is, move on. If not, he's a good prospect. Becton sucks because he's lazy.
