I love David Harris. It is proving out your middle linebacker needs big beefy lineman in front of them to keep blockers off them. Ray Lewis was pedestrian when his beefy boys would miss time in front of him Harris is flowing freely now and I feel he is consistently one of the fiercest tackles in the league, being tackled by Harris looks like it hurts like hell.
Watching how far Geno and our defense has progress after only 3 games, can't wait to see how good we play in our 20th game this season. And it will be a home game!!
I'm not too excited about the pass defense yet. It's certainly nice that there's finally a pass rush, but Darrin Walls is the only corner that's looked particularly good so far. Aaron Dobson helped those pass defense numbers out when the Patriots played us, and the other two quarterbacks the Jets have faced were a rookie and a guy who is probably looking for a job next year. Let's see what happens when we face Matt Ryan, Ben Roethlisberger (he threw for 400+ against the Bears), and a more polished Patriots offense. I'd be willing to bet the pass defense numbers aren't nearly as pretty after week 7. Here's hoping I'm wrong.
Yep, I like him too. Landry has been pants so far, nothing like his bro I'm excited by the D, I'm not sure how you can't. But you're right Walls has looked pretty good and deserves more PT. I saw Dobson drop a sure fire TD last night, guessing he will be a FA soon  Our CB's need better safety help and are in for a torrid time, I'm more worried about the Phins O than anyone else.
As much as I would like to see Jarrett get more snaps, the title of hard hitting safety doesn't have the same meaning it did years ago in the NFL. When I see someone say this guy is a "hardhitter" I instantly think about how they probably get penalized often with the way the NFL is this day and age.
I'd much prefer a 'great tackling' safety to a 'big hitting' safety. The big hitters tend to swing and miss a lot.
I give the Jets credit for the wins, but there's a really big caveat. Two of the teams have been decimated by injuries and really the Jets as a team didn't really play well enough overall to win the games. The Jets won vs the Buc's because of a really dumb last second penalty by the Buc's and a Buc's team that repeatedly shot itself in the foot. The Jets defense really shouldn't get credit against the Pats, there were a ton of balls where the receivers had beat the Jets defenders but just flat out dropped the balls. The Jets against Buffalo did everything they could to keep Buffalo in the game but The bills were just too banged up to take advantage, especially in their secondary where they were playing 3rd stringers. I mean you commit 150+ yards in penalties and turn the ball over a couple of times you should lose that game. don't get me wrong, a win is a win is a win and I'll take them. But I'm not going to get high on the wins because I honestly feel the Jets are a very fortunate 2-1 instead of what very very easily could be 0-3. Still there are things to be very happy about and encouraged with. the First is that most of the mistakes were the mistakes of a young team and about 1/2 the penalties were committed by just two players. Geno has shown improvement, he's still inefficient and did turn the ball over twice so he's got room to improve and he's still getting happy feet in the pocket on occasion and backing up instead of stepping up in to the pocket. but overall there were signs of improvement and it is still his rookie season, but there are signs that he is adjusting as he made some really beautiful throws, especially on deep routes which many had concerns about his ability to throw deep. So that's encouraging. But I can not get past the fact of how easily the jets could be 0-3 right now and probably should be. But again, a wins a win and I'll take em, but until I see the team really earn a win and keep the win on their own merit I'm going to withhold praise.
You said it perfectly. Let's take off the rose colored glasses and see things as they truly are. We are beating teams that are less talented then we are and should be 3-0 instead of 2-1. While this defense is frightening I'll be more impressed when we beat teams that are in the upper tier of the league. One thing's for sure, nobody wants to play the JETS.
The 20 penaltys was eye opening to say the least ,I hope we get it fixed because it almost cost us the game
With ya. The league has sort of exhausted itself of the need for a big hitting safety. There's less of a need for a guy that can wallop someone over the middle because 9 times out of 10 it's going to draw a flag.
