Fitz' interception was painfully reminiscent of another #14 Jet QB interception near the end zone against this same Bills team. In the 1981 AFC Wild Card Game, Jets down by four, Richard Todd threw a pick from the Bills 10 yd line in the final seconds for one of many bitter endings to yet another Jets season. This one stung pretty bad because the Jets had come back from a 24-0 deficit to make a great game of it. With this team, there seems to be some negative synergy with the past which cannot be readily explained.

This is what Chan Gailey did to help Fitzpatrick get rid of the ball quicker, he cut the reads dramatically and Fitzpatrick had one of the faster release times in the NFL this season.

This is also what Jim Harbaugh and Andy Reid have done for Alex Smith and it's a big key in his release times picking up as well. You work with what you have. The Jets got a fine season out of Fitzpatrick this year and I suspect they'll do the same thing next year if he's back: fewer reads and faster passes.
