Yes, but Favre was extremely motivated to play for the Vikings. Can you say the same about Rodgers? He's not even sure if he wants to play at all.

I listened to the last part of the podcast he did. He is saying that he was doubted before, GB drafted his replacement, and he won MVP twice after that. "There will be plenty of inspiration down that road". He is "really excited about" whatever choice he makes. It just doesn't sounds like a guy who will be unmotivated. It sounds like if he does come here, he will be inspired and excited. I am not worried about that bit at all. Favre actually retired and still played well enough for the Jets to be SB favorites according to the odds, before he tore is bicep.

Getting Aaron here is a big deal and makes the Jets relevant again and a SB contender for two years. That's something that's very valuable.

A half asleep, unmotivated Rodgers would still be the best QB play the Jets have had since Favre.

IKR, the same people that are saying he's a self absorbed prick can't seem to correlate how that would be his motivation if the Packers moved on. We will get the most motivated Rodgers I believe we have seen since they drafted Love (back to back MVP's)

The only concern I have with Rodgers is that he might drop off due to age, like Manning did. Still made an adjustment to his game towards the year end and managed the game to SB victory, but he wasn't the same guy. Two years after he won MVP he dropped off the cliff at 39. Rodgers is 39 now. However, Peyton had a serious career threatening neck injury a few years before that, and Rodgers, more like Favre and Brady, stayed relatively healthy, didn't take much damage. Hence I think he has a couple of more MVP like years left in the tank. That's why I think there is a high probability he can give a two year SB Window. Anything can happen of course, but I just feel Aaron gives us the best chance to win SB since Vinny in 1998. Maybe we can find out what that 2008 season with Favre could have been if he didn't get hurt.

If NO can consistently find the money to sign high priced FAs and now Carr, then Douglas ought to be able to figure something out.

Great video! I haven't been able to watch the whole thing yet, but listening to Rodgers even this much makes me respect him and want him as our QB even more. And if people want to belittle what he's done because they're too small minded to get their heads around it, that's their loss.

If Rodgers can do for the Jets what Brady did for the Bucs, then all this drama would have been worth it..

Nope, no sir, I don't like it.

Rodgers will be 40. The Jets, in a few years, have failed to put together an NFL O-Line and we're supposed to put a $50+ million QB behind that? Rodgers was a magician in the pocket 5 years ago. Last year, not so much. Father time gets to everyone and the first thing to go on these guys is not the arm. It's the legs. We better have the "Rock of Gibraltar" x 5 in front of Rodgers for him to be successful. When Favre was here we had a formidable line. Not right now. I'm SMH on this.

Too late, buddy. You let yourself get strapped into the roller coaster. The chance to chicken out is now past, and we are doing the twisty loopy ride where kids and fat women throw up.

With Lamar becoming available for the right price as well as Stafford can we change the title of this thread.

Of SOJF cry about not signing the 4th most talented QB available.

It’s hilarious, we’re in the brink of signing a HoF QB just 400 days removed from being league MVP, which was 365 days after previously being league MVP, who played with a broken thumb and gutted it out, still putting up a season better than anything the Jets have had in the last decade plus, and a season that pretty much rivals anything David Carr has ever done in a decade. Again, Rodgers broken ass thumb at 38 years old with trash at WR still put up a season that rivals anything Carr has done and that any Jet QB has done in a decade.

We just watched 2, potentially 3 HoF caliber QB’s in Brady, Manning, and Stafford win SB’s for their new teams. Rodgers takes exceptionally good care of his body and mind. Every QB at Rodgers age takes time to think about their future at the end of the season. This senseless vitriol toward the guy has nothing to do with him as a football player because it’s not even debatable. You guys just don’t like Rodgers as a person. The guy didn’t kill anyone. He didn’t have rape stands for dogs on his property, he didn’t stick DTF stickers on girls he raped. He’s exactly what a leader is, a guy who’s confident in himself and firm in his beliefs whether you agree with them or not. But on the field his teammates have always loved him, his locker room has always respected him, and he missed one game in the last 5 years while playing with a broken thumb in case I didn’t say that earlier. Wake up people. In case you haven’t noticed our players are literally begging for the guy on social media.

becsuse despite that the defense still held up for the most part. Fixing the personnel issue at safety and more important LB will help. It will also help to have competent QB play which can keep the defense fresh.

Sounds pretty cut and dried for most franchises. Still you're dealing a new OS and a QB who will pretty much own the offense ala Peyton Manning. We all know the defense needs upgrading, but getting it done in 1 or 2 years just isn't in the Jet DNA. Quick fixes have never worked. Question is: Will Rodgers be around long enough to leverage the improvements in the roster into a SB appearance?

I think 3 years from now the Jets will be a power in the AFCE able to really challenge BUF, CIN and KC. Its also not really fair to AR to put the SB or bust tag on him. Suppose he doesn't take the team to the SB then what? 2010 is a long time ago in football years. You know what the repercussions will be if it doesn't happen. The SB hype for the Jets IF AR signs I think is a huge risk and potentially a franchise damaging assumption.

If this FO and Ownership were thinking clearly, they would tamp down the expectations and take a more measured approach to the AR driven NYJ's. Too many things can go sideways and as we have seen so far, you never really know with AR what's going on.

Signing Rogers reeks of desperation and that’s because the Jets front office is desperate.

This particularly pisses me off because the team has a good young core of players and instead of going after a good QB who’s probably got another 5 good years of football in them and will provide some stability to the offense (while maybe giving a draft pick time to learn) they’re chasing old man limburger who hates his backups and hot boxes rooms with his own farts.

Don’t get me wrong, the move has sky high potential if the Jets OL can keep him upright and give him time. What’s the confidence level on that, though? 2 of their best players on offense (guys who stand to impact his play the most) are coming off of season ending injuries. Mount Broketon will probably retire before the season starts.

    Then there’s the potential compensation…

This move can royally fuck a franchise that’s already snakebitten but for once seems to have some serious talent on offense.

Or it could be the catalyst to a Super Bowl run that’d I’d get to enjoy as much as the rest of you. Here’s hoping.

Yes, you sound hopeful. Probably as hopeful as I would have been that Carr could outplay Mahomes, Allen or Herbert
