What good will his playoff ratings mean in the future if he consistently plays poorly during the regular season, like he did down the stretch this year, where one win would have placed the Jets in the playoffs? A full 16 game regular season is a much better indicator how a QB plays than a snapshot of 3 playoff games. Even blind squirrels find an acorn once in a while.
what do you mean 3 playoff games. Do you watch football. Mark is elite period. He is better than Brady and Eli. Ratings do not matter. Did you see how Mark played against Miami the last game. It was not his fault. Mark has heart.
It's funny, because what I remember about that game is Sanchez going 9/10 for 105 yards on the three scoring drives after halftime. He had 2 pass completions on 3rd down on those drives and he converted another 3rd down by scrambling. Those were the only 3rd downs the Jets passed on on the drives. I remember the Jets being down 7-0 at half time in Indy's dome and thinking they had a great chance to come back in the second half because Sanchez had been money all year long late.
What does this stuff mean that you guys say? By his 4th year in the league Brady had already established himself as a perennial top ten QB. Sanchez isn't even top 20, he is in the BOTTOM of nearly every statistical analysis of QB's.
No it's easier to "fire everybody"and throw everyone to the curb at the very sight of anything negative. This board is a cesspool right now. Are people truly incapable of taking a step back and putting things in perspective? Do people really not understand that young players need TIME to develop? Do people really think a regime should be ended at the first turn of losing regardless of the facts at hand? And don't use opposing fans as a reference. They want to strip Jet fans of any glimmer of hope. Don't buy into their crap no matter how diplomatic they appear. They wouldn't be here if they didn't fear or respect the Jets. They just know that many fans are in a fragile state right now, and they can get away with more.
You mean the game where Mark led the GW drive and set up his K for a chip shot FG? Please explain how Caldwell's TO changed that game?
If he plays like late this year it won't matter. Give me a QB w/ lesser #s in the reg season who steps up in January over a QB w/ better reg season #s who can't play under January pressure. Think back to early Brady vs. Manning(I am NOT comparing him to Brady just using an example of lesser #s vs. better #s). You can have a fluky game, maybe even 2 but 6? 2 years in a row? all on the road? Not happening.
Good point. I don't think his 16/27 for 145 yards and a TD in his first superbowl would have been enough to satisfy a lot of people on this board anyway after they missed the playoffs the following year. That's just game manager type stuff.
What are you talking about? Brady was 12/18 for a 6.39 YPA against the Steelers in his 16th NFL start. You certainly don't think Bledsoe's 10/21 for a 4.86 YPA had more significance than Brady in that game????
I didn't ask for some nitwit bloggers reaction, I asked for your take. That TO had NO BEARING on the end result. If Indy doesn't call a TO in that situation we do and the clock stops at the same point THEN after thew next play where Sanchez hit Edwards down the sideline(which by the way he was out of bounds but they allowed the clock to roll) we would have spiked the ball instead of standing around for 20 seconds and calling TO. The Indy TO had nothing to do w/ why we won the game. Peyton gave us a chance by failing on that 3rd down, Cro set up the drive w/ a great return and sanchez executed a great GW drive on the road in postseason.
