How was Harrington's first two years compared to Sanchez's? How did he perform in the playoffs compared to Mark? Really?!?! You think they are comparable?!?!?!?!?
That's not what I was saying, but Giants fans wanted Eli run out of town after his third year. Look at where they are now. it's INSANE and STUPID to give up on a 3rd year QB - especially one who has shown a ton of promise and has come up big in crucial situations.
Great post. He has played as well as anyone we have ever had in the critical moments or games. And to give up on a player that does that is insane.
The only people you will find on the planet that praise Sanchez numbers live on this board. Even the Jets FO don't which is why they are evaluating his future with the team.
While there is a similarity between Eli & Sanchez first three years, in stats and public perception, Eli has two things that separate him from most other OBs Size(durability) and ability to make big plays. I don't remember if he showed that in his first three years. I think so, but he certainly showed that in SB42 and consistently since then. I don't know of Sanchez has it in him to do what Eli does... but then again there are only about 5 QBs now in the NFL who can
Eli is taller, Mark is bigger and Mark has proven to be very durable. As far as big plays, mark was making a ton the past few years. This year he didn't for various reasons, in the past Eli has made too many mistakes always trying to make the big play so there is a trade off. this year he has WRs that tale small gains and turn them into long ones- that certainly helps.
eli freaking had 25 INTs in his 7th year...if sanchez had this # any of the first three years, he would've been killed...so calm down w/ getting rid of sanchez business even when they won the SB in '07, his comp % was 56.1 ffs...23 tds n 20 ints
The internet is a bitching device. People who want to bitch about Sanchez should feel free too. When they attempt to use facts to back that up they make themselves look uninformed in the process, however most posters on sites like this are uninformed so that's not surprising.
Why do you need another season to see if he's an overpaid game manager. What do you think now. Just dump him and get Peyton Manning if he is healthy.
Sanchez is not the QB Eli is and never will be. Sanchez cannot stay in the pocket and deliver an on target pass like Eli can and never will. The comparison is not valid at all. Take a look at all the other QB's who sucked by year 3 and were out of the league or third backup by year 5. Matt Leinart is a better comparison to Sanchez. Sanchez is not a good QB simple as that.
How many Super Bowl wins does Marino have? How many does Trent Dilfer? See where I'm going with this? The Jets CLEARLY got to your precious AFCCG's on their defense and running game, not Sanchez.
Just last year Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Matt Hassleback, and the year before vick, warner, drew brees, manning, favre. And Sanchez average 180 yards a GAME in 2009 and 200 in 2010, he was a game manager, simple as that.
You don't get to back to back title games w/ poor QB play. Better Defenses haven't made it that far w/ supposed better QBs.
I've avoided this topic all off season b/c frankly I get sick of discussing QB's and I think people overrate the position. The bottom line is...QB's take TIME to develop. Sanchez has shown signs of being a very good QB. People that insist upon the negative either can't take a step back and realize that QB development is a process with many moving parts, or they have a personal vendetta against Sanchez. All the whining, irrational negativity, impatience and complete disregard for what we know about young QB's is laughable. Sanchez needs more time and they need to provide him better personnel around him. There's nothing else to discuss.
eli has averaged: 2004: 115.9 yds/game 2005: 235.1 yds/game 2006: 202.8 yds/game 2007: 208.5 yds/game 2008: 202.4 yds/game Finally took a leap in year 6: 2009: 251.3 yds/game 2010: 250.1 yds/game 2011: 308.3 yds/game so the first five years eli averaged 192.94 yds/game - does that make him a game manager only?!
