I can picture Mangini declaring at tomorrow's presser that there's an "open competition" for the starting QB position.

Dream scenario. All that's left is for our Favre-led Jets to crush the Packers in the Super Bowl.

Thanks for 2002 and for being one of the classiest players in the league Chad. Best of luck in Minnesota - you should do well there.

True, there is a slight chance if the team decides Kellen really has no chance to be an NFL starter. As of 2008 I'd feel more comfortable with Chad as the backup...but I don't think he'll just want to take a back seat here. Release him and let him go to Minny.

Nope - Chad is gone because of cap space. Hell, we might be able to get the 4th rounder back from Minnesota!

    To #10:

Thank you for your years and effort here. You showed heart, grit, and intelligence in every down you played. Every time you stepped on the field you knew that your teammates looked to you, and you provided the leadership that a team sorely needs.

You didn't deserve the treatment from some of the fans as we were a playoff team when you were under center. In my mind along with Chrebet and Curtis Martin, you are a true jet, heart and soul.

Will wear the Pennington Home Jersey as tribute this year.

I hope he gets traded to a team where he can have success.

Hate Chad all you want but the dude NEVER had a doubt about being a Jet and loved every time here even if the fans were hard on him.

Dude will be missed and I am not even a Major Chad fan. Dude laid it out for us and played hurt, how can anyone hate that?

Wish you the best Chad. You gave your heart and soul and strength. Alas, the spirit was willing, but the noodle arm was weak.

    Good luck Chad.
A class act with the heart of a lion.
Arm strength ain't the measure of a man.
Way to take a lickin from some fans and the media and always persevere.
The fans killing you now will be cursing Farverer when he starts throwing to the other team. And then he'll quit on us.
    Chad was always a warrior.
    Fuck the haters.

    Hope he takes Minny far.
