I wonder what the NFL record is for the oldest QB/Receiver combo to have a completion or a TD? Maybe Tittle or Morrall as QB?
The oldest pairing I have found is Rich Gannon, 38 years 8 months 23 days old, to Jerry Rice, 41 years, 10 months, 30 days, on September 12, 2004 for the Oakland Raiders (two pass completions). That sums to more than 80 years 7 months. Brady to Jones would not break that this season.
Oldest TD combo is tough to find but it looks like there was a Blanda to Biletnikoff TD connection at Denver November 15, 1970. Blanda was 43 years, 6 months, 28 days; Biletnikoff was 27 years, 8 months, 22 days for a total of 71 years, 2 months, 20 days. In December of 1975 Blanda had his last completion but it looks like Biletnikoff did not play in that game.
@Ralebird was referring to TD receptions, not just receptions. Trent Dilfer (32 y 8m 8d) to Rice (42y 1m 8d) for a 21-yard TD on November 21, 2004 for Seattle (Rice had been traded from Oakland a month earlier) sums to 74 years 9 months, but that is beaten by Rick Mirer (33y 8 m 26d) to Rice (41y 2m 1d) for a 21-yard TD on December 14, 2003 for Oakland, a sum of almost 74 years 11 months. But both of those are considerably behind Gronkowski (32y 6m 21d) from Brady (44y 4m 2d) on December 5, 2021 for Tampa Bay for a 27-yard TD pass and Brady to Gronkowski in the playoffs on January 16, 2022 (2-yard TD pass). But those are beaten by Steve DeBerg (44y 11m 8d) to Tony Martin (33y 3m 22d) for a 35-yard TD for Atlanta on December 27, 1998. A Brady to Jones TD at any point during the season would break those marks, so it seems likely that it would be a record. Interestingly, an early-season TD by Jones could be broken by a late-season TD by Gronkowski, since Gronkowski is about 3 months younger than Jones.
