McCown is a top 15 QB this season.

He's helped get this offense, which has very little talent, off the ground.
Gives Morton a chance, and has helped the younger players adapt.

Once the season is shot, they'll give Petty another look. Good chance that will be after the bye.
I have no problem with how the QB situation has been handled, and have been pleasantly impressed by McCown's play.

To suggest McCown has 'ruined the season' is laughable. The only thing he ruined is certain 'Jets fans' hopes of being dreadfully bad.

I think the point is he isn't good enough to make the team a playoff contender, but he hasn't played bad enough to get them the #1 pick, thus ruining the season. Which is true. I agree he has surprised me. Even staying healthy has surprised me.

I've seen a lot of blown leads in the 4th quarter.

A top 15 QB is certainly good enough to compete for the playoffs, but he's not good enough to single handedly elevate this team. He's not a Peyton Manning, but I don't believe the bar should be set that high.

Getting the number 1 pick at the expense of a disaster season in which no one develops would be the waste imo.
I don't believe there is even a QB worth taking at #1.

I'd glad at least other players are developing in this offense, and that the team is showing some signs of life.

I agree with the og post in principle. This season would be so much fun if we didn't have a 38 year old placeholder QB, or if we at least had a future starter that we're grooming on the roster.

That said, I think there's gonna be between 4-7 QB's with 1st or 2nd round grades in this draft. If we go BPA in the first we should be able to snag one of Rudolph/Mayfield/Falk in the late 1st or early 2nd without having to give up too much.

They have lower third talent and are playing a little above that. Hard to believe some on this board are Jet fans. Tonight's game was fun.

    Shocking Win!!

Prob means we will go to the SB...hahahahahah

The Jets have Morton and he's a tad better Coach than TB/Kacy ...your QB is reaching for some stars...maybe we ride a lucky train with Joshy

I thought I had our schedule figured out but TBH..can't predict a thing with this team;););)

We have to draft SOMEBODY at QB come Spring is all I know for sure

Lmao defense dominated the Bills. Awful post. Offense played ok at best. 7 sacks? Bowles sucks? McCoy shutdown ... Bowles sucks?

He is a problem. We are not going to the playoffs but we will continue to play him trying to convince ourselves that we are and then what? Is he going to walk after this year or are we going to pay him 15 or 20M to keep a 40 year old QB for 1 more year? Another lost decade coming up for this team unless we find a good QB and soon.

As a Jets fan, he's probably blackout drunk by the fourth quarter. I know I usually am.

TBF to him he has played well for us, probably having a career season at the grand old age of 38, now fair play to him for it but the thing is we/most of us wanted a rebuild and that didn't include a 38yo QB or if it did it was because he was historically bad at getting the W but in some ways he has been unfortunate not to be top of the division and on a 7 game winning streak.

A strange game at times, I wanted a flat out zero wins for the season but I also wanted us to compete and fall short, so in a way the last three games were ideal, showing promise but coming up short to give ourselves the best possible draft slot, of course I also wanted Petty or Hack to be given the chance to shine or fail and then we knew what the hell we needed to draft next season, that is still up in arms, will they have been training Hack hard and give him another go and keep McCowan on as a mentor again, Trade or release Petty and snap up another young QB from lower down the draft to sit and learn or will they go for an established free agent with all the spare cash they have, encouraged by the fact that we have competed in every game bar the first two.

Many more wins and we will be handicapping ourselves come draft night that is for sure.

Surprised? The jet way is ruining any chance at picking a franchise qb. I expected this

To each his own, let's see how your stomach feels when the Giants select a first round quarterback to replace Eli and meanwhile we are either paying Kirk the derp 25 million dollars, paying mccown, or drafting hackenberg 2 electric boogaloo. Ahh the future is looking drek.

Big Ben was picked 10th. Wilson was a fourth rounder. Brady was irrelevant. Rodgers was the 24th pick. You get the point by now.

No, Fitz ruined our season last year. McCown is just playing like a veteran. Alright, he's not razzle dazzle but I'll bet he's one of the more effective QB's in the league. And if you don't think competing matters, just look at where the Browns are. When you give up it destroys the locker room.

I get the point that competent franchises can pull it off. Us though?...

I could have told you before I was even done with my previous post that this was going to be your answer. Next time just say "you're right but I just don't like it".
