Not to say that he hasn't made some pretty dumb decisions to cost himself money, a season obviously, and cost his team, but the idea that the guy has some sort of substance abuse problem is pretty silly in my opinion. His biggest problem is not taking his trade seriously enough to stop lighting up, regardless of the moral thoughts that it's not that 'wrong.' It's annoying to me to keep hearing that he needs help or he has psychological problems, or he needs to go to rehab. I don't think marijuana use is a reason to go to rehab, he just needs to choose if he wants to continue being an NFL player or if he'd rather retire and smoke herb for the rest of his life. This doesn't seem like a Ricky Williams case to me, he just needs someone to get on his case.
He shouldn't have taken a swipe at Goodell in the statement. He's suspended for a year and can apply for reinstatement after that point. It doesn't say in the CBA that they have to reinstate him.
Another poor move on his part. The fact that it may in fact have been secondhand smoke adds insult to injury for the guy if he wasn't such a large repeat offender.
I think from what was released to the public, he had a good case to overturning it. The NFL should update the way they test and for how much to catch up to the other major sports.
He has issues with multiple substances so I think it is safe to say after multiple suspensions and fines for differing substances he may have a substance abuse problem. This is just my view but if you get suspensions for weed, codeine and alcohol at different times you may have a problem. Not sure if the alcohol one has had it's final outcome yet. It seems he always has an excuse also which is another sign. This isn't just about weed.
Gordon's suspension to be reduced to 10 games. Welker and Scandrick to get reduced suspensions too. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2014/09/browns_josh_gordon_will_have_h.html http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/9/12/6140757/josh-gordon-wes-welker-suspension-nfl-drug-policy _
This I don't get.. Under new agreement Gordon would not have failed drug test. So why can't he play right away but Welker can?
