Clowney was drafted 6 years ago. The jets haven' played a single playoff game in that time. If they had drafted Clowney that statement would not be true
Clowney has double the number of sacks as Williams, 3 times more forced fumbles, 4 times more defensive touchdowns. but yeah similar
I'm talking strictly pressures and sacks ... 12 sacks with 122 pressures the last 2 years. Does he get pressure on the QB? Absolutely, but so does Williams. Clowney has a knack for the football, but he isn't a great pass-rusher. Would I take him over Jenkins? Absolutely.
Nobody can argue that Clowney wouldn't be a significant upgrade to our squad. He has all the psychical tools and is an game changer when motivated and healthy. But those two caveats and his desired price tag are the reasons why he's still on the market. I'm only interested on a short term deal (2 years) and a Max of 15 per.
I can’t say for sure that clowney gets the 2015 team that one more win. 13 games 4.5 sacks isn’t exactly game changing.
Sack numbers are overrated. Even @ 15 sacks per season that's still less than 1.0 sacks per game. It's all about disruption. Someone like Clowney? Not only is he an absolute monster against the run (dominates stronger offensive lineman) but he sets and seals the edge like no other and he's freakishly athletic when it comes to pass rushing and has great closing speed and is an absolute battering ram. One of the reasons why his "sack numbers" aren't jaw dropping is because he's an X-Factor in which opposing offensive lineman and quarterbacks must account for on each and every play; something in which we have not featured at DE/OLB since dating back to John Abraham (who was a big liability on the outside against the run due to over pursing). Say what you say about his "sack numbers" ala 32 career sacks and yes he's played opposite of J.J Watt but he's never been featured in a Defense surrounded by the likes of Quinnen Williams on the D-Line, both C.J Mosley & Avery Williamson @ IMLB, Marcus Maye as a deep coverage Safety and an All-Pro in Jamal Adams who roams the entire defense and must be accounted for every play as a nightmare and with GREGG WILLIAMS calling the shots on Defense. You want to talk about "sack numbers"? Well then put him on this current defense and watch his sack numbers sky rocket while Jordan Jenkins sets the edge with Clowney in all out attack mode while Gregg Williams dials up the blitz packages. Two athletic freaks of nature in Jadeveon Clowney and Jamal Adams on the field together is an offensive nightmare for opposing QB's/OC's and O-Lineman and would become super exciting for Jet fans.
Yea. Right. During one of Jenkins best seasons last year (2019) he only had a player grade and rating of 66.9 and only 52.4 just the year (2018) compared to Clowney who last year (on a bad year) still had player rating 87.3 (higher than even Khalil Mack) and a player rating of 89.2 the year before (2018). To even use Jenkins name within the same sentence as you just did with Clowney's is one of the funniest things I've ever read around here.
Jordan Jenkins unfortunately is nothing like Jadeveon Clowney. Miami offered Clowney $17M and he turned it down and Seattle offered him $17.5 and he's yet to accept. How much was Jenkins offered for 1 year? lol @ you man..
You're the only one not understanding he instantly becomes our best DE/OLB dating back to John Abraham of 2005 (15 years). You're the only one not comprehending...
that says absolutely nothing and if anything that's due to the jets being absolutely allergic to edge rushers. But hey if you dont understand what I mean by a player being a superior version of another player, I don't know what to tell you.
The problem is Jenkins doesn't resemble Clowney @ all and even as an edge setter against the run Jenkins can not hold Clowneys jock strap who's one of the very best at both setting the edge and stuffing the run. Wake me up once Jenkins becomes an All-Pro and 3x Pro Bowler and only then can you "comare" the two amongst one another.
JJ is a nice player and a recent comparison to calvin pace is spot on IMO. But we STILL are in need of that elusive pass rusher that offenses have to take note of. Yes a team can win without that guy but just think how much help to a defense that could be. brings your secondary to a better level even if they suck. not saying we need von davis but a notch below would be nice. for once.
Hey man if you don't know what superior means then we should stop this now, perhaps pick up a dictionary?
I made a very good post with insight about Jadeveon Clowney as a potential Jet... And this is the response i got?
Hey man did you find out what superior means in the dictionary yet? Or are you one of the first people for the Coronavirus to deteriorate your brain? Go back, re-read.
So he's a super glorified Jordan Jenkins? Got it Sounds like you were being sarcastic to me (as i know how to comprehend) as a way of putting Clowney down.
