Clowney was never going to come here. He has said several times since last season he wants to play for a true contender. WHICH ISN'T US.. Especially with Gase and co. manning the offense. And I'd guess the Jags want way too much for a trade. Jenkins coming back is good.
YES! I've loved Jenkins since arriving. I remember creating a thread Jordan Jenkins vs. Leonard Floyd. Floyd had all the hype coming out of the SEC with Georgia coming out of the draft (9th overall, 1st round) but yet his teammate in Jordan Jenkins put up nearly IDENTICAL numbers as his teammate Floyd but yet Floyd goes 9th overall and Jenkins not until the 3rd. And now look. Jordan Jenkins has out performed Leonard Floyd on an NFL level. And coming off of 67 tackles (15 tackles for loss behind the line of scrimmage),15.0 sacks, 4.Fumbles Forced and 2 Fumble Recoveries combined over the past two years. He may not be an All-Pro or even a Pro-Bowler but he doesn't have to be. He reminds me so much of a younger Bryan Thomas @ OLB (one of the most underrated Jets) and also reminds me of a younger Calvin Pace as he's able to set the edge against offensive lineman, sniff out the run and can also get after the quarterback when asked to apply pressure. Robby Anderson and Jordan Jenkins were my two FA Jets who I wanted to return the most. Joe Douglas is becoming the MAN!
Douglas continues to build a solid foundation by keeping a solid, maybe above average, LB. He doesn't negate the need to get a true pass rushing stud.
Well unfortunately he doesn't have as many highlights and big plays as Robby Anderson does but nonetheless...
Why not? Just like Robby Anderson, there was not a big market for Jordan Jenkins. No team offered him big money. So his contract shouldn't be that big at all.
What's getting overlooked with the Jenkins re-sign, is James Burgess just got re-signed too (who had an awesome season for us last year, as did Hewitt). Mosley. Williamson. Jenkins. Hewitt. Burgess. That's an awesome core group of Linebackers especially if all healthy. And even rookie Blake Cashman looked outstanding with 40 tackles (3 for loss behind the L.O.S) after only 5 starts (7 games) before getting inured. You can never have enough LB's and Jadeveon Clowney @ OLB opposite of Jenkins and alongside Mosley/Williamson on the inside would instantly give us the strongest LB unit within the division.
You do love your hyperbole don't you? 2 awesomes and an outstanding to describe a solid starter, a decent rotational guy and a rookie who was a pleasant surprise because he wasn't completely out of his depth.
Our LB unit with depleted by injuries and still performed very good last year. To bring back Hewitt & Burgess on one year deals who both performed last year and returning Jenkins with both Mosley & Williamson returning... That's awesome.
guy is invisible out there but we will look forward to all the times he touches a QB who slides down for a -1 yard "sack"
What's even more hyperbol is your user name. Mo. Wilkerson? As a "beast"? Now that's hyperbole. You should change it to JamalAdams33Beast that'll be more fitting of a user name and better yet change your avatar picture to someone else who was an actual beast. Sorry. Just funny to me because hyperbole is in your user name with your every post.
If only Vernon Gholston could've been "invisible" with 15.0 sacks over a two year period maybe he wouldn't have became one of the biggest Jet busts of all-time. Invisible? You don't know what invisible even looks like. And Jenkins does the dirty work. He sets the edge as Bryan Thomas and Calvin Pace once did and is strong against the run. "Invisible".
When he becomes a HC or GM then he can approve or disapprove of these things, until then he is a bloody safety and should get on with the task of playing his football to the best of his ability. Good player but absolute gobby C*nt
McGovern is a game changer for us because we have a top center versus centers ranked worse than 32nd that we have started for the past 3 years. Our first round pick should be a game changer whether that be an Andrew Thomas that would upgrade this offensive line to be at least now average or a Ceedee Lamb that has WR1 upside. The rest of these moves have been filling our weaknesses of which our team has many.
Good signing. Solid, not flashy, but consistent and makes enough plays to warrant a new contract. Surprised he couldn't have gotten a 2 year deal though. I like the shorter deals to keep guys hungry...
