I think we will forever lose out of bigtime free agents and not b/c of money. but b/c we train in hofstra which is pretty shitty and then travel to a shared stadium which is also 30 years old and resembles nothing of our team colors.

It's a big problem that will go away once we move to the new facility in NJ.

Plus the fact its going to be tough with a new regime. You get people that think its just because its the same ole Jets...but those are the same people that will argue that a player will sign anywhere if the money is right.

Moving to the new facility will be big...turning heads with a team that looks like its moving in the direction wont hurt either.

Any big free agent signing this year would shock me. MT/EM have yet to prove a thing..and surely a veteran like JR wouldnt risk his final 3 years in the NFL to an unproven....especially when they (the Eagles) offered the same or even more money...which is what the poster of this thread didnt include.

Al, I don?t hate you. That?s a strong word my mom and dad told me not to use when I was a wee boy. You can dislike someone, but hate? No. I enjoy the difference of opinion you bring. I don?t often agree with it, but it?s refreshing and you wouldn?t post it if you didn?t care about the Jets. You probably have more in common with all these posters than you think: you?re passionate, you want the Jets to win every week. That?s my assumption, but I don?t think you?d spend as much time on this board if you saw it a different way.

Here?s how I would boil it down: many posters here are optimists who can only be disappointed, and you tend to be more of a pessimist who can only be positively surprised. Both sides want the same outcome ? a Jets win ? but the path traveled originates from opposite directions. I?m not a psychologist. Are the optimists delusional? Maybe. Are the pessimists so insecure that they can?t exhibit their true feelings for fear that they will be revealed as someone they appear not to be? Maybe.

The jury?s still out on whether this new administration will right the ship for the Jets. I tend to think they will, you may not, but a single game has yet to be played. The beauty of it all is this: who cares? This isn't life or death, though it feels like it sometime.

I?ll leave you with this quote from Abraham Lincoln, a guy who was rather optimistic about this country but who died at the hand of a pessimist. "It is said an Eastern monarch once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations. They presented him the words: 'And this, too, shall pass away.' How much it expresses! How chastening in the hour of pride! How consoling in the depths of affliction!"

This post, this thread, even the disappointments and exhilarations that await the Jets in 2006, will soon pass away. So enjoy the ride if you want or can.

I agree completely, Gaywayne. Thank you. Glad to see you've joined the many others who also agree. And thanks for the very long response to me. It shows us all the power I hold over you...... And Mickey Shuler 82, thanks for an intelligent post. Good stuff.

Very lame. Confronted with someone who holds a different opinion than your own and you resort to homosexual jokes. At least Jay showed people the way adults carry on discussions.....

I have stooped pretty low in this thread too...it happens...lol.

It basically started when he called a poster mentally retarded. Hes either a kid..or bitter man. You call someone retarded here...even someone I disagree with...Im not putting up with that crap.

Don't let the morons get under your skin, Jaywayne. You've always been a great poster in my book.

As far as the new stadium being an attraction (and I think it will be), Mangini and Tannenbaum will probably make their mark long before we even break ground. In fact, there's even an outside chance they could be gone by before the new stadium is built, but from what I've seen so far, I think these two will be able to attract talent long before the stadium gets built. The new stadium will only be gravy.

baamf....you're SO right. Gaywayne REALLY shows how adults carry on a discussions. Take your blinders off, pal. See the ENTIRE picture. Not just the portions that support your point of view. Then I might be able to take what you say more seriously.

Why don't you get off it and let it go, Dorow? I've had many conversations with Jaywayne during the past year and while not perfect (and none of us are), he's a respectful, intelligent poster 99% of the time. Chill out dude. Time to let it go.

It takes TWO to play this game, Section 227. You also suffer from one-sided blinders.

But Dorow, you've been on the attack today throughout this entire thread against multiple posters. The above is a matter of record now, so for you to now say "it takes two to play this game," while I'm not saying this isn't so, it certainly appears you've been the antagonist here, no? You've called people "little man," you've called others "losers," you resort to old, worn-out, homophobic, infantile alterations of monikers such as "Gaywayne," and in general solicit the kinds of responses you've gotten.

Hey, I'm no mod and have no desire to be, but if you're honest with yourself and look back at your replies, you'll readily see the image of an angry guy soliciting all kinds of verbal abuse. Maybe you've just had a bad day or maybe it's just your idea of fun, but you shouldn't act surprised when counter-attacked.

Section 227, you seem like a reasonable person. Do me a favor. Take a look at all the people I responded to negatively and you'll notice that in all cases that they had attacked ME FIRST (look at Gaywayne's attack on ME FIRST). I think your opinion of me might be a different one afterwards. And if not, oh well. Like I said before...people love to hate on me no matter who starts things. I'm cool with that.

Everyone is worth a second look and everyone is entitled to a second chance if they've had a bad day. On my worst days I can be somewhat of a troll, on my best days I seem like a "reasonable person," as you say. In the end though, at least for me, it's about trying to get the most I can out of a particular board (in this case, information on my favorite football team) and I find that I don't do that while engaging in useless banter. Sometimes it's the better man who just walks away and knows it's counterproductive. Now, if I'm having fun impugning and degrading someone who genuinely deserves it, well... that's another story.

Not trying to give you any lectures though, it's just that the replies caught my eye since I do happen to converse with Jaywayne quite often and respect him as a poster. Almost suppertime, though, so let's bury it. Besides, like the country song says, "It's 5 O'Clock somewhere..."

It would be impossible for me to care less. However, I wash my hands of all this dirt. I'm done. Happy bashing, people.
