Jon Gruden's work on MNF during Redskins game

    Gruden is the next Madden. It'll take awhile for the shtick to settle in but he's entertaining to watch and knowledgeable, particularly about offense, and he's got a long career as a top broadcaster in front of him.

    It would have happened sooner if he didn't have the rep as a total jerk coming into the gig. He's had to really soften his delivery over the first five years just to overcome the angry coach image. Now he's got the mellowing part almost over with and he's just a pleasure to watch. It'll get better if he doesn't dive back into coaching at some point.

    Obviously John Madden is a treasure and it'll be hard to get there but Gruden will do it if he wants to. Old Raiders ball coaches make great broadcasters. Something about being hardened in the fires of the Al Davis inferno is my guess.
