I'm sure he does ... But this is the same guy who warned us not to underestimate the Dolphins at the start of the year. "They're pretty good". Really John?? I knew they sucked from the first snap this year... so I guess in that case I knew more than he did.
Disagree. I got a good laugh when he tore into the fins for running out the clock at the end of the 1st half down by 8 points.
We've all been wrong about teams. Who thought Cincy would be 4-2? Most thought they'd be 1-5. And Sam Bradford and the Rams can't win a game, and Bradford's hurt.
Gruden knows his stuff but he should stick to taped segments. Yes Jon. We know this guy is a football player.
I like John. he has a tendency to love everybody and he's not the greatest analyst overall (live, that is). he's knowledgeable but on the live platform he doesn't do as well.
Really? I love Jaws. Maybe not so much as an analyst, but he's incredibly smart and his film breakdowns are second to none.
"what more can you say about this guy??" he says that about every player. he obviously knows football as well as anybody but his hyperbole gets annoying.
If Gruden gets the touch right on his sense of humor he could easily be the next John Madden. He already has his ring, just like Madden, and he's really knowledgeable about football. He just has this little edge to him that pops out all the time and pokes the viewer in the eye. Harping on the Revis non-call is a perfect example. He could have just said it once and he'd have been fine. He does know football though. I learn a lot from listening to him.
I tend not to like announcers who haven't done their homework, are not smart or who have a prejudice that they won't let go of, whether it's a team or player or even a general approach to the game. But I think most NFL announcers are by those standards pretty good. Some of the worst ones have been weeded out. People are entitled to disagree on that general observation, of course. There have been times in the past when I probably felt the average announcer did a less than acceptable job. I just don't feel that way now. The reason I raise this here is, I have to wonder about the posters here who say Gruden and/or Jaws flat out suck. I wonder who they like instead, or maybe that they don't like much of anybody announcing. Anyone care to say?
Phil Mushnick went after Gruden on the Revis play in today's Post. I love the caption for the picture--"Illegal Use of Mouth". New York Post
Not on point, but is there anybody out there that actually likes Dan Dierdorf. I usually turn the sound off he's so bad.
See I don't get the hate for Buck. I'm totally agnostic on him. Dierdorf is intolerable. I don't understand people who don't like Jaws and Gruden.
doubt it, his team quit on him. why? because he is a prick who had to hire a pr consultant to get him on tv because he is such an ass.
