Its a good bandwagon to be on, I dont exactly call myself a band wagoner per say, yet, but I certainly do believe he is very capable of being an above average player. I just want to wait till after the combine when I fully sell into him or not. I agree he is very similar to JPP , just about the same size (JPP= 6'5 270 WM= 6'4 264), I actually think Mercilus maybe a bit fast, in terms of things I think Mercilus could run about a 4.5+ 40 compared to JPP who ran a 4.64 40. But like I said before the combine could determine a lot. They have a very similar bursts and very atheletic builds. Id obviously love if he turned out like JPP. I know Sanu and Broyles wont be a popular pick but if we dont pick up a solid #2 we need to stack up on WRs. Young and Old. Even though we are a big run team we need to make sure Mark has options all over the team, the more the better in my opinion.
Coby is projected to go a lot earlier than the spot I chose a TE. He should be one of the top 3 or 4 TEs picked in this weak TE draft.
I still think taking a rookie safety isnt smart in the 2nd round. I like Martin dont get me wrong, he impressed me at OK state and is probably the best center fielder type in this draft but I still think Id rather draft an OLB, WR, or OT in the 1st and 2nd. Having a rookie safety could be a big liability, this FA market for safeties is one of the better ones in the last few years, I think we need to sign up a vet or an up and comer. Guys like Branch, Griffin, Jackson, Nelson, and (if he leaves Cali which i doubt) Goldson. Thats where we should make the biggest splash in FA, all solid safeties likely to leave their teams.
Sanu's value is still out for the jury to decide. It all depends on who falls and who doesnt, I still have this feeling he wont be valued to much being from Rutgers but like I said in my mock his value is all over the board. I think wed have to get lucky at this point to get him but why not pray? hahaha. Yeah the back to back WR thing isnt looking so awesome anymore since Sparano was hired, I feel like we will go out and try to get a starting RT early in the draft whether that be in the 1st or 2nd. But WR is a big need this offseason, especially if we dont make a move in FA. I think drafting Sanu and Broyles (if available) add a huge element to our team and if both work out wed have an amazing core of Holmes, Sanu, Broyles, and Kerley to go into the future with, which would just be awesome for Marks development. I am still in favor of getting the most value possible (especially at WR) in this draft but if we are really trying to mirror the 49ers game of hard nosed running and competent passing then I doubt we get many targets. Hopefully that doesnt mean Sanchez gets another new pair of handcuffs. Thanks for the comments man, and I will be making one soon in the next month, if not right after the combine. Most likely a 1st rounder and Jets mock.
I love Sanu and Broyles i think that we could have a seriously incredible WR corp with Santonio, Sanu, Broyles and Kerley very young and also gives Sanchez a lot of options which is huge. Love Mercelus also he is a absolute beast on the edge.
