I guess that leaked pre-draft Patriots scouting report was spot on --- at least for his rookie season.

At least he realizes there is a problem. If he can get his head screwed on straight then he can be productive. Wish him the best.

I don't get this... He drinks and haves fun... why rehab? We seen the pic of him rolling up in the dollar bill... coke much? If that's the case.. he has no future. Unless he quits and plays to his ability.. that would be an E True Hollywood story for ya in about 12 years (if his career lasts that long).

I know.. He went for alcohol reasons... but he always partied hard and drank... it never stopped him from being one of the best college QB's.. maybe he was put in this program to try to win his organization back over or something i really don't know. But if you ask me it leads to more questions about him than i originally had before that.

You can get away with a lot of crap and be good in college. A lot of 'elite' college QB's never succeed in the NFL, as illustrated by the low number of QB's who have won the Heisman and gone on to successful NFL careers.
the 'boys will be boys' argument doesn't fly when you enter the man's world of the NFL. We know of at least on report where Manziel was out partying on a Friday and the team had to send someone out to find him (in bed hungover) when he didn't show up for practice or answer his phone.

I got slammed mid season for saying he had a drinking problem and needed to get his act together if he wanted to stay in the NFL. Kudos to Johnny for checking in to rehab, regardless of what he does on the football field in the future I hope the guy gets his life and head together.

The stories making the rounds now are the same ones that were making the rounds inside the draft process. Manziel isn't dedicated to the game. He shows up and plays and only studies hard when there's a big opponent on the scope. You can't turn this stuff on and off. You either have the dedication to be an NFL QB or you will fail. At the moment Manziel is failing. This is his one shot to fix that. I hope he does that, he'd be very entertaining to watch for the next decade and the fans in Cleveland could really use a break right now.

I wonder if this guy has calmed down now. This video still makes me laugh. I love the last line "I'll call you back" :D

I agree that the NFL caters to dumb fans but it's not just the frat boy types, also the types that trash the Seattle DC for a bad offensive play call, overall ignorant people

If I'm Cleveland. I don't draft a Qb this year. Unless they think that Johnny is beyond all hope. He was a great college Qb. And has the skill set to play in the NFL in terms of arm strength, running ability, etc. He also has the "it" factor and was a winner. They signed a good vet Qb in McCown who can start if Johnny can't. The Browns have plenty of needs. Give the guy another year and see what he can do. They don't need a new Qb every year.

I seems to recall the same thing being said about another college QB. I believe that one changed a couple of teams and even won a playoff game.

Seriously, at this point I am completely unconvinced that there is any value to be gained here. If I was a Browns, fan, I would want him cut. The cost of his draft pick is now sunk, so ignore it and move on.

As an aside, Cleveland must be Party City #1 with _all_ their high-profile players (Justin Gilbert, Manziel, and Josh Gordon) attempting to outdo one another in knuckleheaded party stunts. Is there some sort of frat rush involved in living in downtown Cleveland?
