I highly doubt he would even want to come here... I really wish he wasn't available right now. Makes it worse. I would take 15 years of winning football and at least one Super Bowl in that span. I hope AG is really the guy to turn it around.. All I got at this point.
This guy would have his choice of about 25 different jobs across this league between teams looking for a head coach and teams that already have a head coach. On what fucking planet do some of you people think he would ever choose the Jets? He can get a blank check from whoever he wants. Somehow tying this to the decision to keep Aaron Glenn is just a bad look for a lot of you. I doubt he would even pick up the phone if Woody Johnson called.
Don't hired him as a coach but a VP of FB operations and have both M and AG report to him. Then let him do what needs to be done...
Hire him as whatever he wants to be hired as, and fire whoever he wants you to. Give him your firstborn too. Brick could use some shaping up.
I never said hire Harbaugh as a HC. He's been there and done that. What he hasn't done yet is run the entire show WITH the title of VP of Football Ops. For someone who probably at this point in his career has an eye on his legacy, I'm pretty sure that's the road he'll jump at for the right money and situation. Woody would have to hand over total control of the operation and that will be the deal breaker.
Unfortunately I don’t have the link. I hang around with many friends who are Ravens fans and go to several games. Many have called for firing Harbaugh for a while this year. Like Tomlin, many Steelers fans are done with him. Macdonald, now the Seahawks coach was the difference maker as the Ravens OC for two years. Harbaugh doesn’t call much these days and as some fans say, what does the hell he do with the headset. Never calls plays.
Offer him whatever he wants for whatever position in the org he wants. If he turns us down, ok. At least try to bring a proven winner onboard.
Just to be on record, a competent NFL owner in our position (in other words, not Woody) would be on his private Jet to Baltimore and standing in Harbaugh's driveway by 9 PM. Then you call him on the phone and ask if you can come inside because you'd like to talk to him. When you get inside, you hand him an actual physical blank check made out to him and invite him to fly to NYC the next morning to just see the Jets facilities. You don't take "no" for an answer. Then if/when you get him to Florham Park, you don't let him leave until you have an agreement in place. That's how you show someone in Harbaugh's position that you are serious and mean business. Real World Example
I’m not convinced he’s a good coach at all, which I know is unpopular. His rosters have been absolutely stacked…. STACKED the last 5 years and he’s done nothing despite a two time mvp at QB. No one has done less with more. And if you point to his Super Bowl win.. wasn’t that the old ravens crew with Ray, Ed, Suggs, etc? I’m not sure he’s good at all tbh.
Harbaugh is a great coach. Sad that he’d never come to this mess. Ownership is important to established coaches. I think the “mystery team” is Tampa Bay. The Glazers are good owners now, Harbaugh’s daughter plays college sports in Tampa, he would prefer NFC, and he could win that division easily. Bucs part ways with Bowles and hire John Harbaugh. That’s my crystal ball prediction
Good intuition I think…very possible Bowles is not a great coach…he’s been lucky to be in a very weak division … this year the division champs Panthers won it with a losing record, and I think Bowles did that once as well. He sucks…
