We already paid him a 12 mil signing bonus. Any team that wanted him would now be looking at a 5 year 40mil dollar contract. More teams would be interested in him at that price range. His cap hit would be a little over 8mil a year.
That would mean the Jets paid him $12 million to literally do nothing. That would be one of the worst moves in sports history. Not happening. And if it does, then the Jets are a bigger joke than I give them credit for.
It wouldn’t look good I agree. I read an article that the way they might spin it.. is if the jets got a 2nd round pick for him the would say they spent 12mil for a draft pick. Like the browns spent 16mil to get Brock osweiler and a second and then cut Brock o.
I might sell my Monday night ticket. Please add your ending, im interested in knowing how all of you feel about this rumor.
If the Jets Trade LeVeon Bell, it would be free agency signing/recruiting suicide. Nobody would want to play for the Jets. Hint: The Jets aren’t trading Bell.
The Jets are trading Le'Veon Bell like I'm trading Enron. That doesn't mean that the signing doesn't have a hundred ways to possibly go wrong. "I'm not getting the ball enough." "The New Dump sucks." "I want to spend more time on my music career." Blah blah blah etc. etc.
Would it not hog up the Jets salary cap with all the guaranteed money? I am not a cap guru by any stretch but it seems it would not be favorable to the salary cap for at least two years.
Imagine if you were a GM, and every off-season you could a) sign premiere free agents. b) instantly flip them for picks, thereby c) gaining draft assets while losing absolutely nothing, and also d) read posts and articles where people said you were an idiot.
