Revis, Cro, Wilson, Lowery, Coleman, Cole + Leonard, Pool, Smith, Ihedigbo Unless there's an injury to 2 or more of these guys, I don't see how he gets time at CB. That said, McKnight looks the part and definitely has the burst and change of direction. I don't think he'd be a great tackler, though.
its really not that far fetched, it all depends all on well he can grasp the techniques. it wont happen this year, but i dont see why he couldnt make the change if he dedicated himself to it brandon moore was a DT until he got to the league, wasnt he?
Statistically McKnight is our best CB this year. He has been so dominant that not one QB has thrown his way so he has 0 stats. Which in the CB world is a beautiful thing.
Only one guy would have to get hurt for him to see very minimal time in 5 corner packages if they felt he could handle it. When Revis comes back, Cole will likely head to the weekly inactive list. There's no need to keep 6 CBs on the active roster if you have a guy who could step in if necessary.
Should I start the Joe McKnight>Vontae Davis. NO ONE THREW AT DAVIS THIS GAME, THAT MUST MEAN HE'S THE BEST CB IN FOOTBALL. No one has thrown at McKnight ever, so I think it's safe to say he's the best corner of all time.
Cole is an important special teamer. I think he is pretty safe. With Coleman playing, he is the primary gunner on special teams. He seems to always be in on tackles, well he and B Smith.
Yes, real good kick return guy. I think he took one back for a TD in the Jets first home game at Giants Stadium in 1984, maybe a few others. You pretty much nailed it, great speed, bad hands. His speed allowed him to recover on plays as a DB where as a WR if you can't catch it doesn't matter how open you get. And again there was the matter of Walker and Toon at WR while we were usually thin in the secondary in those days. By 1988 he was starting at CB across from James Hasty, who was a rookie, with Eric McMillan (also a rookie) at safety, that was a decent secondary for a short time.
The whole idea of this is flexibility for roster spots, and I love that kind of stuff. I admired the way cheaterfuck Belichick did it with players like Troy Brown and Mike Vrabel. The the most out of your most versatile. Say the Jets have a key injury or 2 on the DL... and they're playing against a run-heavy team with a brutal offensive line. Rex will no doubt want to dress every defensive lineman left on the 53 man roster, and go light on the defensive backs. And in a pinch, McKnight would be very useful, if he's at all good at the position. But I doubt that they will have his number written into too many different plays.
I'm not sure. Most likely the Kansas City game, we scored I think over 30 points. The Chiefs had a weird team that year, I forget exactly, they were 10-6 with bad offense and bad defense but some kind of crazy special teams. Something like that, and then they shit the bed in the playoffs against us when we're on a 5-game losing streak. Who is even in the playoffs on a 5-game losing streak? I'm not sure if it's been done any other time. I remember Pat Ryan's run on 4th and 8 and Kevin McArthur's pick-six at the end. And Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" being played as the game was winding down. We thought the song was fitting for the moment. I'm high, by the way,
