Man, if I had the choice between playing RB and CB, I'd take CB every time. RBs take such a beating over the course of their career.
At this point, McKnight should be doing whatever the team needs him to do, and he should do it gladly. He could be the next Troy Brown or Julian Edelman!
Nothing wrong with this move at all. It does not mean we are not looking of a better corner, it does mean Carr at this point is not the answer for a situational corner. I really hope he still grows into the runner I think he can be. I know McKnight had some fumbling problems than needed to be corrected, and I was hoping they would help him technique wise to do so. Quite frankly, putting that aside, he might be the best runner we have.
We need Joe McKnight at DB! In addition to Randy Moss, the 49'rs also have....wait for it.... WR Ted Fucking Ginn, superstar drafted in by Miami on 2007 5 spots before Revis Island was taken. This obviously makes Miami fucking retarded OR it makes Ted F. Ginn the top offensive weapon in the league. :rofl2:
McKnight For the Win!! Looks like him playing as CB may very well pay off. I know it's not that big of a deal, but check this out, per ESPN: "McKnight, who had three interceptions in practice -- one from each quarterback -- accepted his new role, but he wasn't necessarily happy about it." 3 picks today LOL
Landry will be behind calling for the lateral so if he fumbles Landry will be ready to scoop and score I laughed so heard when I saw Landry following Bell I think instead of trying to block.
Apparently McKnight is bitching about the switch. Code: http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/8428252/new-york-jets-joe-mcknight-unhappy-being-shifted-cornerback
mcknight has played corner since pop warner. He changed positions at usc cause pete carall seen a lot of athletic ability. He still is a outstanding athlete with 4.4 speed. He can cover anyone step by step .He just needs to learn the NFL way and not grab jersey after the 5 yard limit.IF it works out then. Rex is gonna look like a genius. And it would increase his carrier.
"I was drafted as a running back. The way I took it as I wasn't good enough to play running back, that's what I took it as. I don't know if that's the case or not." I would take it as a bit of an isult also TBH, however, he's fortunate he wasn't released and given the chance to help the team out elsewhere on the field.
Although it wasn't the coverage aspect of the position, didn't McKnight blitz Flacco, forcing him to throw an INT last year? If he has any Defensive awareness, I'm thinking he's athletic enough to learn the coverage skills that are needed to be a decent DB.
He so dumb.Rb average career is 3 to 5 years.DBs can play up to 10 years easy.He should be happy his coach thinks he can convert.I would rather learn while i am still getting paid.
Taking it as an insult all depends on perspective. We need 4 CBs a heck of a lot more than we need 4 RBs. Even if he was the #2 RB, with Revis out, having another CB is critical and if he can fill that role, that's where he should be. So, it says more about the importance of the CB position with our team than it does about his RB skills.
I still wonder why Revis hasn't been dropped...do they think he can come back this year and that they will be in the playoffs if he can? We could use that spot to get somebody who will help.
Why not take a shot? The guy's a bust at RB. He's a good ST player, and maybe he can do something on D.
