Joe McKnight appears as if he's finally ready to contribute.

I don't understand why some Jets fans are so convinced McKnight wouldn't be able to step up if we needed him to. So far he's been asked to step up in one role and has done very well.

I'm not saying he would definitely do well at RB, but I really don't get why people are so cock sure he wouldn't do well. If Greene or LT get injured we'll find out where he's at. Until then, why sit here and claim he'll fail? Because he fucking puked? Have a little faith in our FO.

according to junc....3 HBs should be getting carries....because apparently, other teams do it.

Exactly what I have been saying. Apparently this line of thinking means we are buying everything the Jets try to sell.

I miss LeGarrette Blount, who the Jets didn't look at and was signed by the Bucs for nothing in September and is an animal. There's all sorts of regrets you could have for players that aren't on the team, but I think the Jets can do it with what they have on the team.

Well if the Jets "leave no stone unturned" mantra is true then I'm sure they looked into it. His agent probably figured he wouldn't get any PT here.

Probably not but the bottom line is if he was ready to contribute he'd be playing no matter who was on our roster.

I don't have an issue w/ him not getting carries, I don't think he is ready for that role yet which is the point.

blah, blah, blah. You read enough of my posts to know who I lost to in the BS Bowl 4 years ago and I couldn't care less whether you read my posts or not. So if you don't want to read my stuff then don't read it.

I'm the ignorant one yet you bash me for complaining about letting Wallace Wright go yet you tell me you'd give up a 3rd rd pick for him.

I need to be repetitive b/c I have so many people coming at me and so many people post wrong info that I have to reapeat myself.

Eric smith has not been a great player for us, i'd agree he's been a below average starter but he has been and is currently a starter for us. if you can get a starter w/ any pick that's a good job. We had a top 5 pick 2 years ago that cannot start.

Leon has not been replaced by McKnight, Mcknight was drafted to repalce leon but he has been a complete failure since the day he put on a Jets practice uniform. Thanks for helping to reinforce that point.

reactionary? like wanting to keep Brad Smith a few years ago when the board wanted him shipped out? like saying that it's still too early to call McKnight a bust? I'm not allowed to be disappointed that he hasn't shown us anything? I have said over and over again that I am not giving up on the guy but I am concerned b/c he hasn't shown us anything.

How can we use the reg season when his only playing time has come in garbage time?

I DON'T want him getting touches b/c he is not ready. That is the point, you guys are talking like he is this sure thing that if he got the chance would light it up. if that was the case he'd be getting touches.

he was ineffective when he got his chances and hasn't he been hurt?

I wasn't comparing the two, we know Blair sucked. i was syaing his play made Blair look worthy of the #2 overall pick.(a shot at McKnight, not praise of Blair).

Slaton as a rookie gained 1200+ yds.

There are three reasons why people are wondering why he's not doing a lot more.

First they dumped a good popular player in Washington (understandably-Leon had been injured and was difficult to deal with on contract issues) and pick up a KR/PR/scatback type so the comparison is obvious.

Second, Tanny increased expectations by saying said at draft time that McKnight was a great player and that they'd picked him to replace Washington (I think the exact quote was that it was a "fair assumption" that they only traded Washington because they were able to draft McKnight). They also moved up to get him and said it was a move to improve the team in the short term. It might have been PR bull but it did raise fan expectations about JM's productivitity.

Third, even understanding that he's not going to get a ton of carries behind LdT and SG, four touches is an incredibly small number for a runing back/PR/KR who can supposedly play wideout or corner. If he's that good you'd think he'd get a few more than four touches. I can't think offhand of a running back who ever played so little for a team and ended up being any good for that same team.

Reading isn't your friend, huh? I don't think mcKnight should be getting carries, the point is(again) that if he was showing he was capable that he'd be getting touches regardless of the fact that we have 2 good Rbs ahead of him.

Yeah, hence why he reneged on his initial commitment to the 49ers.

Or we wouldn't have two FBs active. We all love the Terminator but if someone else was more productive and needed to be in there he would be.

I have a better relationship with reading than you do with spelling, junc.

I'm sure all your frineds can attest to that.

actually, when they drafted joe mcknight it was pretty well known that he is a project type player with huge potential. I didn't expect anything out of him this year, it was a move made for the future.

should we give up on shonn greene because he lost the starting RB role to LT?
