When you have playmakers you find a way to get them touches. we have too many receiving threats yet they all seem to be involved every week.
Once again easy to guarantee when it's pretty obvious he won't be getting on the field. We can argue this for the next 8 months and you will just keep saying the same thing. The only evidence we have about his progress since August is that when he was asked to fill a need on the team he did it well. You can continue to harp on stuff that happened 4 months ago but i'll look at recent history to project that when he gets the chance he will be effective.
True but he's on the field and still getting the ball. Not as much as he probably should but he's getting touches.
yes...i understand the rotation aspect. Perhaps the Guard analogy wasn't a good one....I was merely making the point that it doesn't matter how well someone is doing during practice, if the depth chart is deep with talent (which it is for HB)...their chances of making it on the field are remote at best. They shouldn't be given meaningful snaps if there's no need for it.
All we can go on is TC and preseason where he made Blair Thomas look like a steal w/ the 2nd pick in 1990. If he was ready to play he'd be playing.
it's deep enough for the NY Jets, junc. 9-2 without a 3rd HB stepping on the field. EDIT: We also dress 2 FBs.....so the need for a 3rd HB is moot.
Yes, but we're talking about running the ball. 3 guys are already getting carries. If you have an issue with McKnight not getting carries, then imo that's an issue with the coaching staff giving too many carries to the other guys.
junc, I barely read your posts, because I already know what I'm going to read - the same ignorant slant to half-reality to support whatever obsessive point you are trying to make. If that's what you call 'being a fan', then 'fandom' seems to have been reduced to simple observation in your mind. You do always know what to say, and most times it's wrong. But what you lack in substance you make up for in repetition, and in some circles that can be effective. In 50 years you're going to be telling people how wrong they were about your penny stocks. Eric Smith has been a below average starter for us, which is neither an accomplishment worthy of a 3rd round pick nor a good supporting point for you above-noted flimsy argument. You're basically and admittedly mad that Leon was replaced by McKnight, which simply didn't happen. His productivity was replaced by a couple of different players. You have reduced yourself to one of those reactionary player-haters that occasionally flame out on the board. I don't expect you to flame out, but I'm sure you have room for improvement.
My bad, I thought the regular season actually meant something. You want him on the field getting touches. I assume 5 touches would be a good number. Seems like it might be reasonable except you aren't digging deep enough. Unless we are going to make it obvious that any time McKnight is on the field he will be touching the ball it would require that he be on the field for at least 10 snaps a game in order to get him those 5 unnecessary touches. Who is coming off the field for those ten snaps? I know, if he was ready he would be playing it's that simple... unless you actually think about it.
If he were playing as advertised McKnight could also be giving LdT a rest as the third down/passing situations running back. Tomlinson's at 211 carries which is fairly heavy usage for a 31 year old guy.
Huh? Blair Thomas was the 2nd pick overall, McKnight was a fourth round pick. If you're talking about McKnight replacing Leon that's an unfair comparison imo. Leon's role as a KR and 3rd down back were replaced by two guys: Brad Smith @ KR and LT as the back. Brad Smith has been good at returns and LT is doing a much better job at RB then LW is. Hell, Smith is doing a better job runing than LT is also. If you're saying Thomas had a better TC and preseason in 1990 then McKnight did in 2010 then well...
