this certainly doesn't pass the optics test. Think its safe to say the giants are about as dysfunctional as the jets. Never thought i would say that. coaching pool, especially the head coaching pool, is real shallow. obviously important to find a guy who can win but u wonder how important that really is to many of these owners. Get the feeling that as long as the record isn't 1-15, owners are fine with anyone who can communicate decently, look good, and is willing to be the sacrificial lamb in front of fans and media.
Heard this earlier today on the 10-1 show ESPN Radio. Maybe Gmen wanted Garrett and the owners care too much about perception so they went with the unknown and are going to force Garrett on Judge as the OC.
I don't get what's so appealing about Garrett. He's had plenty of talented rosters to work with and hasn't gotten past the divisional round. I don't think that's solely because of Jones and his controlling ways.
He's pretty much a career underachiever minus the two years. They did get robbed in Green Bay with the Dez Bryant catch/no catch but for the most part they've always had a lot of talented players. The years with Romo/Murray/Bryant, a good offensive line and then DeMarcus Ware/Sean Lee on defense should be more than enough to grab a playoff win here or there. The 2011-2013 Cowboys should've been better than 8-8. This is such a new era Giants thing to do. They really are equally as much of a laughing stock as we are over this past decade. This is no longer a desirable job IMO. They're dysfunctional as ever with the last two losers as head coaches.
Amazing how the Jets get bashed the most for not hiring this guy, why should we give full control to a guy with 1 year of NFL experience?
Jets didn’t have to give him full control. Just full control of hiring his own staff which every coach should get.
IDK dude is asking for a lot for a guy with not much experience in the NFL, but point taken he did ask for just staff control with the Jets.
I'm not saying he's gonna be a good coach but he's worked under Sabban and was the special teams guy for the Pats...other surprised hires in recent years...Jim Harbough and Mike Tomlin...nothing worse then hot take artists having hot takes on things they have very little education on....no one knows if this is a good hire just like know one knew if Jones was better then Haskins....honestly id go with the opposite of whatever they think on tv and twitter
Oh I think the contract and control he got from the Panthers is absolutely crazy. I liked Rhule from his time at Temple but he’s become the most overrated HC candidate of all time.
He also is in the process of finishing a PhD in education. This could be an interesting hire. I like Flores a lot and so did Belichick. This could be a good coach.
I prefer this hire over McDaniels who's already proven he can't get along with people and can't draft...McDaniel is Gase 2.0
