I get it dude, I don’t like your tone. If he his GM, he has a say. He could go to CJ, it’s me or him? He could do many things to persuade CJ the is is time to fire the coach. He is not peer, he is the GM. Gase is a coach. Sure they report same boss, but there is difference. he doesn’t have final say, but he is top guy in the room. He manages the team! From what I can see, he continues to support Gase! Which I think is not good for the team, the product on the field, or the fans. He has to be embarrassed this shit show, so hopefully he is letting that be known to the owner/CEO. If Joe doesn’t have the “loudest” voice in the room then we are in real trouble.

No, you don't get it. You're flat out wrong!!! Gase and Douglas ARE peers. The fact that Douglas is GM means squat in terms of the pecking order. Both Douglas and Gase report to Chris Johnson. Gase doesn't have to answer or report to Douglas. Douglas cannot fire Gase at present. Just because Douglas can go to Chris Johnson and say that Gase should be fired, doesn't mean that the Johnsons will listen to him. They have meddled since they bought the team. Douglas isn't going to give up and be a failure on his first GM job by threatening to quit if he doesn't get his way.

I'm sorry that you don't like my tone, but I don't like your or others posts that are obviously ignorant of the Jets' hierarchy or choose to ignore the facts of the situation. They drag down the quality of discussion. Opinions that aren't based on facts and reality are worthless and insulting to the intelligence of others.

If indeed that Joe has same voice as Gase, we have bigger issues. In business, it just won’t work. If the GM is responsible for the entire team and results, then the coach is part of that. How can anyone be responsible for something they don’t have a say in? I get your point, Joe can’t fire Gase, but if your ass was on the line, and your friend is the cause, then something has got to give. Tough decisions. But if JD has gone to leadership and recommended Gase has to go, and if the Johnsons are that dumb and stubborn, if I were JD, I would be looking for a new job. I understand the Johnson’s don’t get it, and your point that JD has his hands tied, well woe to this miserable team. We will continue to be the laughing stock of NFL. Because we need some good leadership. I am and have been proponent for JD, but Gase still not fired has me concerned about him. No other team would keep him at this point. Let’s hope the Johnson’s give JD the voice he needs and support he requires to turn around this team. Getting rid of Gase is 1st step to change. Maybe Johnson’s have to get out of the way!!!

Yes, now you see. THIS is why so many of us have been up in arms about the Jets organizational structure. It's nuts! Would you quit in the middle of the season if you believed or had been told by the Johnsons that they were going to fire Gase at the end of the season? I doubt it. That would be cutting off your nose to spite your face. If Douglas quit in a huff like that, chances are he might not get another shot at being a GM. If all he has to do is hold on for another couple of months, and then he will either have major say in whom the new HC will be or will get to totally make that decision on his own, and he could have the #1 pick in the draft, 10 or 11 draft picks and the most cap space in the NFL, why in the world would he or should he quit? That makes no sense. That would be a dream situation for a GM where he could totally change the fortunes of the team and put his stamp on the team. He could turn the Jets from a circus and laughingstock to a champion and go down as one of the greatest GMs of all time. Why would he walk away from that opportunity?

The Johnsons DEFINITELY need to get out of the way. Hopefully, they will. If not, if they continue to meddle and not allow Douglas to run things, the turnaround will never happen, or won't happen as completely or well as it could have. Douglas will get fed up and quit in a year or two, and then no decent GM candidate will even consider taking the Jets job.

I get your point about quitting too soon and the opportunity. That is a risk JD might want to take at this point. But I would not be happy if I am GM and my voice is not heard, and like you say If that is deal breaker he eventually moves on from jets. Not like it will change, only if JD makes it known. I don’t see JD as a yes man. And maybe the Johnson’s give in after they see progress with JD. That the situation is not amicable to setting him up for success. In any case, Gase has to go no matter, Johnson’s need to make it happen with JD recommending or not. It shows true lack of leadership and lack of respect to the customer... you and me!

I keep seeing Jim harbaugh brought up here.
    1) is he waiting for the perfect situation or was he really a cancer to the front office in San Fran and will never get another job in the NFL
    2) would joe Douglas bring in a guy that couldn’t get along with the front office in his years as an NFL head coach?

I have a big jets sticker on my rear window in my SUV, so folks always honking saying something. Lol. I am in NC, I meet a suffering jets fan all the time. It is frustrating watching Gase run this team to the ground, actually getting worse and worse every Sunday!

Sorry to disagree NC but I can and did. I do not care if you think it makes sense or not. The two are not mutually exclusive. Just because I realize what needs to be done - as he does - doesn't obscure the fact that he is response for the team composition and should be held accountable and suffer like we are.

Maybe its time Douglas put in another call to Sam's parents

NEW YORK (AP) — Joe Douglas made a vow to Sam Darnold’s parents when he met them before the New York Jets’ preseason opener last summer.

The new general manager assured Mike and Chris Darnold they weren’t going to have to worry about their son with him in charge.

“I promised I was going to do everything in my power to take care of Sam with protection and playmakers,” Douglas recalled during a conference call Wednesday. “I think we still have a lot to do in both those regards moving forward. I think we’ve done our best to attack some of the issues we had in the past.”

What is the deal with Zuniga?

i thought Mims was average. Nice player but has a ceiling we can all see imo.

Davis and Zuniga will make this class or not. Joel Clark can play too.

Mims...looked good especially since he has had zero game action...no pre season, no training camp really....so all in all a nice debut considering the circumstances...but 4 catches is not earth shattering

Perine...nice effort on the TD run, but he hasn’t really looked very special to me so far...seems like a Bilal Powell type guy...good, solid, but not a game changing back

Huff did flash on a couple of plays so there’s hope here

Becton had probably his worst game so far, but he still looks to be a great pick....there are times where he just stonewalls a bulrush that is so impressive to see

haven’t seen enough of Davis, but so far the only thing that comes to mind are a few dumb decisions to return a kickoff out of the end zone where he didn’t get back to the 25, so not really impressed with him so far

The punter has looked good all year

so that’s my take...Becton a stud, Punter is good, Mims there’s hope, the rest is kind of a wait and see still...
