What gets me is these are the same people that are constantly bringing up "science." Global warming.... science! Vaccines....science! Doesn't science dictate what is male and what is female? Or is science only relevant if you agree with the finding?
A quick crotch grab isn't very scientific, nor respectful, but I'm sure it's findings will have fairly accurate results*
Ive been building some bamboo fishing gaffs..... Lets just say when shopping for materials online I discovered "Gaff Hook" has more than one meaning
At that age you wonder how much of it is a desire to be different and attach themselves to a movement that's seen as edgy rather than a true urge or biological need. I'm a bit quirky and different and therefore I want to identify as X/Y/Z and copy what they do. My wife teaches a similar age and sees it more and more too. Mostly kids changing name identities and clothing to identify as the other gender.
Yeah, and there's also the fact that the prevalence of trans people has been rising extremely rapidly, and tends to rise more rapidly in places like California and New York. Part of that is people who've always felt that way finally feeling comfortable enough to admit it but I don't think that's the entire reason. Not to sound too insensitive but there's clearly an element of something akin to brainwashing that contributes to this dramatic increase in the prevalence of people who identify as trans.
The pressure on children to "decide" their gender & sexuality at such a young age borders on child abuse. A good argument can be made that it is. When children are being exposed to drag queens and encouraged to participate... serious questions need to be asked as to the motivation of the parents and the organizations behind it. I'm very liberal when it comes to adult lifestyle choices... and I get the "fair & tolerant" aspect... but when was it decided that the LGBTQ+ community should get involved in raising children?
Is it strange that I've never met a person who has wanted to be called by his or her preferred pronouns?
I was kidding though. My work has Pride Month Celebrations, Pride Month giveaways, a big rainbow Pride flag taped on the entrance way floor. Though they celebrate it, they don't push it on anyone, just an inclusive workplace so I have no issues at all with what they are doing. I really just thought the Pride flag/logo on the floor, that everyone steps on, would have been viewed as disrespectful but it was the members of the Pride committee that thought it up.
If somebody assumed you were the other gender in an interaction in front of others I'm guessing you would not see it as an innocuous mistake. As you point out it doesn't happen all that often but for the people it happens too it likely happens all the time.
Considering how many of my daughter’s middle school classmates identified as transgender to start the school year when everyone returned and needed a cause to brand themselves with, if the suicide of transgender individuals is a real issue I’m all for encouraging kids to jump on the bandwagon and volunteering to thin out society. Darwin will never leave you astray.
