If the Jets spent the time and effort they spend on making us think this team is good into actually making it good, we could really dominate this league.
Hopefully Woody is keeping an eye on potential GMs for next year. If they don't make the playoffs I dont see how you can conceivably have this guy back. I'd go so far as to say they need to win a playoff game to extend him.
Keeping an eye on potential GMs? What makes you think Johnson would recognize a GM if one walked up and tore the stupid hat off his dopey head? Actually, if the 31 other current GMs were lined up in front of him, I doubt he could match a dozen with the teams they work for.
Making the case for Woody to hire a VP of Ops and let his VP run the show especially with hirings. One thing is certain, the reputation of the Jet franchise is deep in the shitter and no one of any value will want to come here until that perception gets changed with REAL IMPROVEMENT in leadership.
I think the real issue is that we have zero faith in Woody to pick a smart VP of Ops. It's hard to hire the right GMs/execs when you have no idea what a smart GM/exec should look like. We basically just have to hope Woody gets lucky and gets it right by chance one of these times.
You'd think after 25 years, the light bulb would have come on by now but nooooo, not our Woody. Still as stupid as he was when he bought the team. The other Owners knew Woody would be an idiot so of course, they approved the sale knowing the Jets would be irrevelant for the next several decades.
That case was made years ago; now it's just beating a dead horse. For now, I'd be happy to see a highly regarded consultant brought in who could probably do some of his work remotely (Carroll, Parcells perhaps). As I have said regarding coaches, there's only 32 of these jobs out there and the guy I want for GM is an experienced hungry motivated guy who would want to attack the challenge of turning around such a franchise rather than shy away from it.
Well he's the one making the decision. Hopefully he's doing everything he can in the event they need to hire a new GM.
