I'd like to thank him for his services. He was very serviceable, and and very likable guy. But Shelley has taken this opportunity to the maximum...

Now what to do when Giambalco comes back...

I understand, just what to do on a consistent basis...

If Melky gets sent to the bench, Torre will be the biggest fucking dumbass in history.

Judging from what I've seen, I don't think Torre is smart enough to learn from his mistakes last year.

I'll admit I wanted Sheffy over Melky last postseason. But Giambi isn't as good a hitter as Sheffield since he's been off the juice. And Melky is doing great, he's young, hitting over .300, good speed, good arm...Keep him there.

Torre has already said in an interview that Cabrera is the Yankees starting CFer. Damon will play the occasional LF, CF, and split time with Giambalco at DH

Which is the right way to do it. Now if Damon could just learn to actually play left field...

Shelley didnt take his place. Betimit did. And in his few games he has proven just how much better he is than Cairo was anyways.

Once the Yankees got Betimit, Cairo became very expendable.
No Betimit = Cairo still on the team.

I'll take it one step farther. No Betemet would mean Proctor is still on the team. Proctor on the team means no Chamberlain on the team. There would be no way to free up an opening on the 40 man for Chamberlain with Proctor still here because that would mean Cairo is still here too.

Seriously... check out these roster improvements in the past two weeks:

Cairo, Proctor, Myers, Basak, Nieves, Thompson, Henn, Bruney, Igawa...

they become Giambi, Hughes, Chamberlain, Molina, Betemit, Duncan, Karstens, Brower.

I think I'm missing someone, too. But whatever... it's not about the one-to-one who moved specifically for who... it's about the combination.

While Karstens and Brower aren't anything special, I'd rather have Chamberlain, Karstens, and Brower than Henn, Proctor, and Myers. Molina is a huge upgrade over Nieves. Huge. Hughes vs Igawa? No contest. Betemit vs. Cairo? No contest. Giambi and Duncan vs. Basak and Thompson? Please.

This team just added a ton of talent AND depth, without making a big splash trade. I love it.

Yeah Cappy, it's absolutely amazing. The turnover is so much more than impressive. It's downright scary.

Now they have to perform consistently together. The old group had chemistry, and was winning together. The only guy who I think could interfere would be Giambi, but my gut tells me this team wants him here. If he can be the typical good Giambi, he's a dangerous weapon.

Man, the potential of this team is something. I just keep getting worried about getting too excited.

The team made alot of internal moves but the offensive lineup is pretty much still the whole old group. The only difference is the Giambi is going to take some DH time away from Damon.

Granted, but we replaced Igawa with Hughes. Proctor with Chamberlain. Cairo wih Betemit. In addition to adding Giambi and Duncan as depth at DH, and off the bench.

It can't be underappreciated that the Yankees can bat their DH in the bottom third of the lineup. Duncan hit 8th last night.

As little as has been done, we've done a LOT.
