Cotchery returning punts? After a two week Groin injury? I'm not too sure if I'm a fan of that, especially since when he returned punts last season, he averaged about, what, 7-10 yards a return?
If he catches the ball, it really doesn't matter. If this week's returner doesn't fumble the ball and can average 5+ yards a return, the punt returning game will not determine whether we win or lose this game.
The only time Smith was ever a starter in our D under Rex was when Rhodes got benched last year, and LAST WEEK. He was scheduled to start this week prior to Leonhard going down.
This is true. I figured there was worry because Leonhard was a sure catch, and then it dawned on me that Cotchery has steady hands as well.
Smith started most of the year, even when Pool was healthy Rex kept him in over Pool until he started showing up on many TD passes. I don't want to argue about this, irrelevant right now. Smith only started 4 times in 2010 so, that's that.
Well, the Jets don't like him at all so maybe he can on some other team. They won't even let him run back punts much less play corner.
yeah they hate their new 1st round pick and since he didn't walk on the team and beat out Revis for the top CB position we might as well trade him.
Wow this thread is pure genius. Make Kyle Wilson a running back and or the coaching staff hates him...... please take off the tin foil hats. Stinks JL got injured. I am infinitely more worried about the safety play then punt returns. Jim is the only serviceable Safety the Jets have.......it can be a big loss. That said if there is one thing Rex Ryan has proved he is good at, it is covering for losses on his defense.
He's a bust. So is Joe McKnight for being a 4th round pick. Man, I hate this draft class. I can't believe these guys can't get on the field with such "mediocre" talent in front of them.
If there's any time for Pool to step up and make us love him, its now. He saved a TD against the Bengals.... maybe this is the start of his playmaking ability? I'm being really hopeful here.
