I thought it was a fumble. If it wasn't a fumble then the rule is complete BS because if he was in the endzone it would have been a TD. The making a football move stuff is ridiculous. As another poster correctly pointed out, the logic of that stupidity is that if you stand there with the ball and don't move then you can't ever fumble the ball since you haven't made a football move. Just a stupid rule.
Leonhard is the man. Reminds me of Steve Tasker from the Bills. That was a fumble. Actually lost his helmet twice during that game.
From the beginning of the game I said that we should watch Jim Fuckn Leonhard. He came through. That small white motherfucker came through!!
Leonhard brings speed and a physical game to this defense, play you may not expect from him because of his size. He came through today as he has the last few weeks (and majority of the season). The non call of his forced fumble/fumble recovery may have been one of the worst calls I have ever seen, but we all know what he did and will recognize it. Really glad he came over with Rex.
All week ESPN was hating on Jimmy saying he was too short to cover anyone on SD. I'm glad he shut them up
He DID have it -- it isn't even close.....he clearly has the ball and his feet are on the ground...and he's TURNING....ready to move upfield. The replay was clear enough that if it had been ruled an incompletion, I would have expected it to be turned into a fumble/catch....that it was ruled that originally was ridiculous to overturn. Simms said it right initially....then he weaseled out about that 'football move' crap....again.....so if you don't move, if you imitate a statue, you can't fumble ?? This is 'tuck rule' crap IMO.
Totally agree!!! I rewound the play and rewatched the game once already. It was a catch. Catch...2 feet down and while turning got upended. While in the air B4 he hits the ground the ball begins coming out.. All the bases are covered for a fumble and it was ruled a fumble. What did they see to overturn it? The explanation was he didn't have control long enough WTF IS THAT? Possession is Possession...eos.
Chrebet Hahaha, not all white guys are like Chrebet. He was a tough little fire-cracker that always played beyond his height and size. I too was reminded of him as I watched Leonard play tonight. They're similar in size and they both make/made huge plays. Great win guys, I love every player on this team right now. Even Rhodes stepped up.
I need to get me some jim Leonhard jersey. I was one of the first to lobby that we should bring this guy in last year during the ravens playoff run. I felt he was playing great football and was turning into a baller. Well keeping him in Rex's scheme has been integral and you know what, this guy is badass and He is going to be here for quite a while....
This guy has been outstanding for us. BTW, the difference between Rhodes and Leonhard? Look no further than the play Leonhard caused a fumble (and it WAS a fumble), and the strip sack Rhodes had. Leonhard made a huge hit that caused his helmet to come off, found the ball and fought for it with no hat. Rhodes? He got up and started celebrating while the ball was still laying on the turf up for grabs.
Let me ask you a question. If that had happened in the endzone, would it have been ruled a touchdown? I think the answer is YES. It was a completion. I'm not really going to complain about refs, we got away with a few of our own. I am still so fucking pumped after that win. By the way, Jimmy Leonhard is a true football player, I think he is excellent.
That play reminded me of that miracle pick that Revis had in week... 11? ...the game that Rhodes lost his starting job. Revis catches the ball off the receiver's heel and runs it back, and you can see in the background Kerry Rhodes strolling casually toward the sideline. It's not that he didn't care, it's that his head is never totally in the game.
I'm a big fan of Leonhard. As for Rhodes I think he just hasn't caught on to Jets football. I actually think he pines for Mangini. Wonder if Tanny could work something out...
