    Wonderful post Kurt.

Those too worried about the number of recent picks are looking at the wrong things. Coming in to the 2006 season this team lacked talent almost everywhere. The O-line was a Mess. The D Line was not any better. Our Line backers outside of Vilma were awful. We had poor Corners. No running back to speak of. That?s an almost endless list of things to fix for this franchise.

Fast forward to this year, If Edwards pans out, we currently have no glaring holes in our roster. We have added the following starters in the last three seasons: 4 of our 5 offensive linemen, One of our receivers, Our tight end, 3 Running backs, our aging veteran fullback, Our young franchise QB, An all pro Nose tackle that is one of if not the best at his position in the game, two amazing middle linebackers, a pass rushing OLB threat, An true shut down corner on one side and a capable starter on the other, A safety to play next to Rhodes.

This is not a complete list, but look at the overwhelming overhaul of talent and how well it has been done. We are a very competitive team now and are poised to be one for the foreseeable future. Yes we are light on picks going into this draft, but we are heavy on talent where it counts, on the football field.

I wonder if the UFL changes a lot of teams' approach to draft picks. Maybe some teams worry less about stockpiling draft picks and maybe fish out some talent from the UFL, similar to what the Jets have done with the undrafted free agents.

  3. Thanks for the kind words.

The other thing to keep in mind is that MOST of the NFL needs better OL/DL depth. Teams are jumping on starting talent early, which leaves the usual mid to late round developmental steals..not around. Therefore It's a top heavy position salary and talent wise. This is a league wide personnel issue.

Tanny has done an excellent job. It would be great to see if some deals could be made down the road to get a few more picks. Its hardly the concern however. The Concern is beating the fins tonight and having a successful 2009 season. Worrying about next years draft is the least of the concerns we should be focussed on.

There's hardly any difference between late-round picks and free agents.

I fully trust Tanny. The infusion of talent over the last 2 years has been immense.
