I think we have 1, 2 and 6 right now. If Lito plays enough and well enough to require a 3rd then we have 1, 4, 6 due to both Edwards and Lito demanding a 3rd in compensation. Under NFL rules the Jets either need to acquire a 3rd above their original position in the draft or give up their 2nd to satisfy the conflict. In this case Philly would luck out since they made their trade with the Jets first ( I think. )

There was the possibility that Lito would require a 2nd in the original deal but I think that required him starting all 16 games and so it's moot now.

We get PHI's 5th if the Lito deal involves a 3rd or above round pick this year though.

Though I think Lito has to make like 85 percent of the snaps and has something to do with with resigning to a specific amount for that pick to be higher.....which is pretty doubtful hence I think PHI will just get a 4.

It's very nice that we still have our 1st and 2nd rounders

Clemens could net us a late round pick, the only other name i could think of is lowery if the coaching staff is comfortable with lito and strickland, but with both injury prone i doubt they would trade him.

Clemens is a FA I thought?

Thomas Jones teams might figure will be a cap casualty and hence may not want to trade anything for him but maybe we can find a sucker somewhere.....

and something to point out, if Edwards would happen to sign with another team after this year....surely we'd get compensation since its looking like he might be the best WR of this year on the market hence us getting a 4th or maybe 3rd round pick in compensation in the 2011 NFL Draft. So the gamble is giving up so far a 3rd and a 5th in the 2010 draft for at least 1 year of Edwards and a 3rd/4th in 2011.

    Not bad.

Late draft picks are virtually worthless - trade them all.

Not true, 2 of the 6 transactions cost the Jets picks. It turns out one of those wasn't needed........ Lito but oh well. I think with Ryan's scheme Lowery or somebody else could of held down #2 CB long enough to draft someone.

I think now that the team has no glaring weaknesses short of depth issues, that Tannenbaum should back off a bit and start drafting some numbers or stock pile draft picks..........

later picks are perfect for picking up some line depth on both sides, which we haven't had for a while. we're extremely thin all the way around. maybe we can trade that 1st for a couple of 2nds and get some depth that way.

I believe the Jets only have a 1 and a 2. The 7 went for Favre -remember our late gift. The pick for Oconnell is probably a 6 - it was undisclosed. Shepherd likely will stay as a 4. The 3 & 5 went for Edwards. That leaves 2 picks - 1 and 2.

If Edwards works out it fills our biggest needs, a playmaking wideout. After that we need depth. Not filling starter spots like we have since 2006. So while the lack of picks is never a good thing, its great in that we can activly switch from trying to fill needs to planning for the future.

If all of the current roster is retained, our #1 pick will not need to step in right away and be productive. That is a huge advantage for both player development and ability to trade down for more picks if desired. While i want more picks this up commign seaosn, I can not be happer with how the Jets roster is made up ATM unless edwards flops badly.

The Favre pick was one they originally sent to us, that we just gave back. It wasn't our own.

That's exactly what I think... you don't have to look at how many picks we have... but how many picks we have in relation to our needs.

A part from a RT and a young guy on the D-line what else do we strongly need? Not much imo...

I like what Tannenbaum is doing. You have to give value up to get value, welcome to reality.

We had three this year. I'm not seeing the problem...

We need WR. We only have 2 signed through this offseason. And only 2 Safeties. And no K or FB. And only 1 TE.
