?

If you could only keep one, which would you choose?

  1. Braylon Edwards

    27.0%
  2. Santonio Holmes

    73.0%

At least Holmes isn't holding out and actually completing his contract. Even when he's performing at a high level......

I would prefer Edwards. I think that he's more of a match-up problem for defenses and is a bit more of a vertical threat than Holmes, although it's close. I think that as Sanchez's confidence grows we could see more fade routes to Edwards.

Harris is still #1 priority though.

We're only seeing the tip of the iceberg with this offense. By the end of the year these guys may have both played themselves into huge contracts.

It HAS to be Edwards. He is the tall speedy vertical threat this team has been looking for since MeShawn left. Don't get me wrong, i love Holmes....but if we could only keep one IMO Edwards skill set is much more valuable.

I don't know how but i feel that Tanny somehow will be able to retain both players. At least i really do hope so. I hate to say it but i think if we could somehow release Cotchery to save some cap and retain these two we almost HAVE to do it. That would be really sad tho cause i love JCo and own his jersey. Holmes and Edwards is a very very good duo even without Cotchery unfortunately

It means that Holmes is focused on winning and not worried about getting paid...

Yeah but you then also have to consider that Santonio has more consistency, chemistry with Sanchez, clutch ability and leadership than Braylon. They're both very valuable in their own ways.

I've always been a huge Edwards fan, so that just goes to show how game-breakingly good Holmes is.

One thing you have to consider is both these guys have a history of brainfarting... Signing both of them to a longterm deal might come back to bite you if they both wind up in jail for another idiotic act. I would probably sign Holmes and let Edwards walk, then see who we can get in the offseason who presents a more stable option.

I voted for Holmes, but want to keep both.

My List and how I rank them in order of resigning:

    1. Holmes - He is Sanchez's safety net.

    2. Cromartie - A key to our defense and a must keep.

    3. Harris - Better than Scott and un-replaceable.

    4. Edwards - Would love to keep, but we can't have everything.

Note: I want to see more of Patrick Turner, he could replace Edwards as the big phisical receiver if unable to resign.

Edwards. Not that Holmes isn't great, but Edwards is the prototype size-speed guy you can build an entire passing game around. Everything Holmes is doing, he's doing because Edwards is running the deep routes that make it possible.

Reading the stories people were writing after that finish sunday, I honestly thought some of the Jets beat writers were deliberately downplaying Edwards' contributions to try to get that typical diva rise out of him. The Edwards grab gave us four shots at the end zone from the six, that felt to me like the play that won the game.

Both guys have made some big plays when their numbers have been called. Both guys have also had their share of drops and idiot plays (watching Holmes run into his own blocker from ten yards off and fumble was really quite bizarre). Keeping both would be ideal, and I think both are definitely higher priorities than Cromartie, who I'd also love to keep around. But if I can only have one, I'll take Edwards, because we know for a fact he can be not only useful, but productive without another truly dangerous wideout on the field (sorry but I haven't seen anything out of Cotchery in a long while that would lead me to describe him as dangerous).

I think we will lose Cromartie...He is a #1 corner and will be paid so much freaking money by some team. Dont think the Jets can match that.

I'd rather have Edwards tbh, we made it to an AFC championship game with him and Cotch alone. Not to mention Edwards is a better deep threat, and he is a extremely good blocker in the run game!!!

I still haven't decided who I'd want to keep, but good post.

They are both awesome receivers to have.

It's a little unfair to Braylon having the poll at this time though...with Holmes' plays fresh in their mind.

Do we know what's going to happen with this drunk driving thing with Edwards yet? Could he be suspended next season?

"Edwards appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday as part of the proceedings stemming from his Sept. 21 arrest on three counts -- two for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and one for operating a motor vehicle while impaired. Edwards allegedly had a .16 blood alcohol level at the time of his arrest, which is twice the legal limit."

This is the kind of brainfarting that make me think Edwards is always one bar hop away from not being here anymore.

Holmes is more of a dynamic route runner/playmaker who has a knack for making big plays when his team needs them most. Not to take anything away from Braylon, who's an outstanding receiver in his own right. I think if you had to try to replace the two, it might be easier to replace Braylon. It's a hard fucking question that hopefully we won't have to answer.

I agree with this, They're both playmakers and game changers. I will be disappointed if we lose either one.

Edwards. It seems to me like he really loves playing for the Jets. He always says he wants to come back. I would hate to lose him.
