How is Cam Newton an awesome QB? I feel like you evaluate every player as if they're currently playing at the height of their potential. Cam hasn't been good for quite some time. He was the only QB who almost looked as bad as Darnold last year.
Holy shit, hard pass. Cam is god awful. Honestly though, if Zack goes down we might as well lose out for the draft pick. Shame to ruin our 13-4 season though.
I predicted 3-13 last year with potential for a 1-15 Rich Kotite 1996 type of disaster. Word for word too. I knew (and I knew heading into 2009 too). And I know heading into 2021 as well.
Just look at the 2020 prediction thread. 4 pages full of replies. I predicted 3-13 with 1996 1-15 potential more than 3x. You? You didn't even make a prediction.
Were I Douglas I might look to snag an OLB, TE and possibly OG/C (not tackle) off waivers. I don't think any CB claimed off waivers would be much of an improvement over the jets several mediocre CBs. Which specific players... I would leave to Douglas, but those are IMO biggest need areas. Too late to claim a QB for this year.
Zach Ertz isn't as washed up as some fans are making him out to be. 2019: • 88 receptions (2nd most of NFL career). • 916 receiving yards (2nd most of NFL career). • 6 TD receptions (2nd most of NFL career). • 50 1st down receptions (2nd most of NFL career). And the only other year where he had a better season within all 4 categories was back in only 2018; which proves he isn't "washed up". 2017/2018/2019 = Pro Bowl. Just because he had an off year of injuries during a COVID-19 tainted season doesn't mean he's "washed up". Zach Ertz: 30. Travis Kelce: 31.. Rob Gronkowski: 32. I could be wrong but all of this Zach Ertz talk is a moot point because unfortunately I don't picture Philadelphia trading away a top 5 TE and only days before their season starts...
I'll get back to you as soon as I finish my 1000 word reply, complete with bolded text and bullet points
Ertz was a very good player at one point in time. It's hard to imagine him returning to that level of play, though. Taking on a new player is about projecting how they'll play in the future before they prove without a shadow of a doubt who they are. The ability to do that well is one of the main reasons the Patriots have been so good for so long - Belichick has a great sense for when a guy is about to decline and is very good at getting value out of them before it's obvious to everyone they're in decline. Ertz is not only on the wrong side of 30 but he's coming off a serious ankle injury. The Kelce comparison is invalid because Kelce has shown virtually no signs of decline yet. In fact, he had the best year of his career last season. Contrast that with Ertz who had one of his worst. Ertz is also nowhere near a top 5 TE as you're claiming. Off the top of my head I'd take the following guys over him: Kelce Waller Kittle Andrews Pitts Hockenson Fant Goedert
If Ertz can produce at the level of what Ryan Griffin did a couple of years ago, then he will be worth trading for... for a 7th round pick. He's got 1 year left on his deal, is over 30 and has said he won't sign a new deal if traded. Nothing more than a 7th is worth it.
Yes, Jacksonville had it all and Foles cost them. Hey, I don't ever want to see him play here, but I want some veteran insurance and someone (I think) is a good guy for Zach to lean on.
Wrong. If he contracts Covid and gives it to several other teammates, especially Zach and whomever the other QB is, we'd have to forfeit and no one would get paid. People with the vaccination can still get the accursed variant.
At one point in time? 2018 and 2019 were his two greatest seasons of All-Time. 2020 doesn't mean he's "washed up from 20 years ago" because 2021 means he's coming back and will dominate again. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
Are these players who are vaccinated supposed to live in a bubble and stay away from people? Lets not act like Cam would be the "only one" spreading the virus. And if vaccines work then no one should get it after their shot. So what you're telling me is even after the shot people still catch covid? And we're going to blame "Cam" in advance for it? Nice to know.
