That was against one of the easiest schedules I can remember them having. Not a single game out of their Time Zone, and Gase still managed to screw it up, handing first wins to 2 winless teams along the way. And the last game against Buffalo, the Bills mailed it in because they had already clinched a P.O. spot and didn't want their starters banged up.

It would be miraculous for the Jets to win 8 games IMO. But we'll see what happens with Saleh being the motivator he seems to be, and Zach being the budding FQB he seems to be. Every year there are surprises, so why not the Jets?

Well, ok, even though you know the answer of course. One is our best special teamer so till we upgrade he serves a good purpose. The other one is just holding the fort in case of an injury to Kroft or when one of our guys comes back from injury reserve. Or best case if Kenny gets a little better at understanding offensive routs and we promote him from the PS. Not a bad plan, given we always knew we had holes we were not going to fix completely this year.

Its it just me or it appears that pessimism by this fan base regarding our D has increased substantially since the end of training camp, some calling it bottom of the league this year. It is almost like the loss of Carl has accentuated their concerns of our very young secondary. I have a different view, and believe that while we will be going thru some serious growing pains because of our youth, we will still be better by a bunch than last year. While Carl was a big loss, I think our front line will still be pretty damned good. Our LB corps will be faster to the point of attack against the run and the pass, particularly after the return of Davis, and we are yet to see any of the schemes from Salah's arsenal. The secondary will be challenged, no doubt, but I sleep better knowing we will not have damned stupid cover zero miracle losses because of egotistical incompetency. We are expecting this team to be more competitive, that is what we all said after we got Salah, and I still believe we will be.

I want sad high on the defense as others but the Lawson injury is about as bad a hit any team could take. The defense was going to built around 4 man pressure and he was the main edge guy. Without getting pressure, these cbs and lbs are going to get eaten alive. If we blitz, and don't get there, it's going to get ugly.

I think with a little luck we can win 6-10 games…. And be competitive in most games. ESP against the patsies.

The Lawson loss was a huge gut punch. He was probably the second-most raved about player in camp behind Moore and we haven't had a good edge rusher in 20 years.

On the other hand, Saleh's forte is defense and I think the return of Mosley means more than a lot of people are considering. I'm hoping Quinnen takes another step up, he's going to have to with Lawson out. Our DL is still good but it might have to be elite with how bad our secondary is likely to be.

I think Saleh was depending on Carl Lawson to take the immediate pressure off of Quinnen so he could concentrate on getting up to speed on the field after missing almost all of camp.

Without Carl some of that pressure comes back and you have to hope the urgency doesn't cause Q to have to take more time off if he gets re-injured.

That said, I'm kind of excited to have mostly the same Dline early in the season because I want to see the real difference in effectiveness between the gap scheme from last year and what Saleh is doing.

IDK. they got all their defensive studs back that sat out last year and mac jones has looked impressive. and I hate the fact I called all this to happen before the draft. I wish the bears had taken mac jones instead of fields

I will go out on limb, I say we beat them once this year! As one of the highlights of the season.

To me 6-11, a defense maybe better than we thought (I'm still thinking bottom 5 D in the league) but a good offense, good rookie year from Wilson, the Jets hanging around against tough opponents...and upset or two. A hard luck 6-11 would show we're on the right path

For them to go 8-9 would require a lot of luck. Could happen...but luck does not tend to follow this franchise around

4-13 and blown out left and right and an underwhelming Zach would bother me.

I want to see this team play hard and buy in for all 60 min of every game. Even those where it's 27-3 NE...keep pushing, keep plugging. JD and Saleh and the right guys, just believe, buy in, play like hell

Then next year shoot for 8 or 9 wins. Rome wasn't built in a day. It may take until the start of the 2023 season where we look at the Jets and expect them to make the playoffs. Miami, Buff, NE are still far ahead

Lawson was the most important player on this team. He could have covered up a lot of weaknesses of the defense and protected the offense. But, as Saleh said adversity will test us and show us what we are made of. I look forward to seeing how we adjust and compensate for losing Lawson.
