The reason Woodhead has room to make moves in New England is because the Pats offense can attack every part of the field on every play. Brady is great and is always going to find the right guy. I think Woodhead is a good player, nothing special but he is good. His skills are amplified in New England because he is playing with one of the best QB's to ever play the game. Give him an average quarterback and he just wouldn't be as effective. I don't know why that isn't more obvious to everyone.
Thought I read in the other Woodhead thread a couple of posts saying he is too small and will eventually get hurt.
He got some garbage time touches towards the end of last year but he was never involved when the games were close. The one game he played in for the Jets this year was close and he didn't touch the ball.
He did get some meaningful touches later in the year as kind of a 3rd down back trying to fill leon's old role and to be honest he wasn't very good at it.
Just want to emphasize this part for everyone who thinks success in the Pats system means success in any system.
That doesn't mean he couldn't have had success here, players develop and get better but I didn't like what I saw out of him. I like his story, I love his heart and determination but I still don't think he'll have longterm success.
Right, I just don't understand why many seem to think that what he is doing with the Pats would have translated to the Jets. I also don't think he will have an extended career for many reasons. The most obvious being that other marginal players have had great success in his current role. He has a great skill set for what the Pats are asking him to do but he isn't a guy who is gonna touch the ball 20 times a game and be successful.
Jesus Christ, we're still crying over Danny Fucking Woodhead? His story was great...he's a Patriot now. FUCK HIM
Here, here!!! If they kept Woodhead he would have been inactive every week. Would you like to bench LT or Greene to get the little guy a couple of touches. The Pats lost Faulk and needed a replacement, we don't have a spot for him, just like we don't have one for Mcknight. Lets hope he does not help them to the Super Bowl but he was not gonna help us to one so who cares
I think as much as you guys wanna say it's because it's NE's system can be said that Shotty had no fukin clue. Just like now. He is not using our players to their strengths and it's pretty fukin obvious.
Did you watch him play last year? as a receiver we were using him the same way. we don't have Tom Brady at QB who can win w/ anyone around him.
junc didn't you spend about 400 posts arguing FOR Danny Woodhead....now you finally realize why we don't have him?
Yeah, I guess the McKnight/Leon debate made me think you were on the Woodhead bandwagon as well...my bad.
I liked Danny, it was a good story but I never felt he would be a productive player for us. If he wasn't in NE I'd be rooting for him.
That was on the same point but not w/ Brady...w/Shotty. He can't for the life of him design plays that are catered to a players strengths. His plays w/ Woodhead @ the WR pos were straight CRAP...his Plays where Woodhead came out of the backfield...CRAP. I mean Shotty has all the weapons now and he still manages to fuck it up. His substitutions are a fukin JOKE, he creates ZERO mismatches which if anyone watches football would realize THAT'S HOW THE PATS ARE SUCCESSFUL W/WOODHEAD.
He's not the one making bad reads, he's not the one dropping balls. I hate the damn trick plays but outside of those we had tons of plays ope last week that we didn't execute.
You think I'm talking about just last week? Even b4 Holmes was active this has been going on since 4ever. When was the last ime you saw Leon & TJ or Shonn & LT on the field @ the same time? Or Holmes, Braylon, Dustin, Cotch & Brad Smith? Think about it, He has no fkin clue on how to create mismatches and that's my point.
