 My point was that this move barely means anything at all besides Eric Smith being healthy. I was making fun of the people that complained about moving bottom level depth players. Allen has been waived more than once this year. Most teams make little moves like this all season when people are banged up or injured. I can understand people criticizing the fact that Sanchez hasn't been given any tools to develop with or the ignoring of the oline this year, but getting all pissy about the backup depth talent being moved around is just silly IMO, that's all.
You hit the nail on the head my man. Polk Morris and Brown getting drafted after Ganaway, its a joke. This is stupid. Allen's played fantastically for a rookie converted linebacker. The people who dont know who he is are the same fans that flip to Days of Our Lives when the defense takes the field. Serious question, even if you think Eric Smith is more valuable on the field, why not waive Josh Bush or Lankster. They're both still on the roster right? Bush hasn't played a snap, so I dont think he'd get picked up, and Lankster's just waiting to get cut. There are a lot of teams with injured/old/thin safeties. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Allen get picked up. On MNF the Eagles had some trash collector filling in for starting SS Nate Allen, dead serious, I think his name was Simms. Watch him get picked up by the Pats.
Didn't we just cut Allen a month ago and no one picked him up? I like Allen, but he's an in-the-box safety in a league that wants to spread the field. Those aren't in particularly high demand at this point, and there's a reason he dropped to the 7th.
