The defender came underneath to make a play on the ball, but when they showed the replay, you could see the corner behind him and the safety over the top..... Had Cotchery come back on his own, the defender, likely wouldn't have been able to make a play on the ball... But if you're the QB, you really can't assume that unless you have a really, really good rapport with your WR and can read what he's going to do.... Not a smart play, but not as bad as it looked.... Elam whiffs on the sack, but Robertson cleans it up! D is really stepping up in big situations today
Clemens has ANOTHER chance today. This game just feels like the 04 game. The offense just keeps getting chances and comes up short.
I buy that, but I still don't like the fact he threw it into double coverage. It's not really an isolated incident when it comes to Clemens either. He tends to chuck it in there and hope for the best. Until he actually gets that "rapport" with the WRs, he should be a little more cautious with his decisions. And "looking off" his receivers could help, too...not just staring them down all the time.
I gotta say...Elam's enthusiasm is really starting to look like just plain old stupidity...a classic case of head-up-assitis.
Oh I absolutely agree, but I just want to be certain in saying that it wasn't as terrible as it looked... He still has a lot of work to do to become a good starting QB... On the bright side, Baker made a nice play right there!
