I know, it really pisses me off, the pats were the nfl's joke of a team I remember in joe montanas super bowl game for genesis, if you played as the pats you were sure to fumble on almost every play, hahahahahahahahaha, fuck em ats_suck:ats_suck:ats_suck:
Another goofy name from the past: R. J. "The Silver Bullet" Kors I remember he absolutely decked a Miami reciever in a game in the Orange Bowl when Marino was still their QB. I know Namath called that game because every time the Jets did something it was a "heck of a play" and every time there was a bad pass it was an "ugly duck." I'm thinking it was the last game of 1991 when we won the game on that GREAT draw-play run ( a terrible play call by Coslet, go figure) by Freeman McNeil to get some yardage and get out of bounds (we had no TO's left!) so we could set up for the winning kick.
Namath definitely called that game, I remember he went nuts when they ran that draw to McNeil. He yelled "Oooooooh man, that's cutting it close!", Freeman got out of bounds I think with :02 left.
I have that game on videotape somewhere. I'll have to dig around my Mom's house back in NJ over the holidays.
That was in Joe Robbie the final week of 1991 and Namath just yelled "WOW!!!!" I believe that was in OT w/ Miami near midfield, the possession before we scored to win it.
Yeah, that was in the 1991 game, I'm pretty sure. It was not at the Orange Bowl, however. The Dolphins played their final Orange Bowl game in 1986.
I'll never forget him gleefully yelling, "It's good! It's good!" , when Allegre nailed the game-tying FG (actually the ball was still in the air) with :00 remaining in regulation. "WHAT ARE THEY DOING?!!", I think were his words as they ran that last draw play.... ricky williams
I believe it was Tom Hammond who said "they don't have enough time, do they?" as Freeman got to the sideline w/ 2 secs left.
I remember praying over and over again during that game!! And then went completely crazy when Allegre made the FG.
Even though that was an 8-8 mediocre season, for whatever reason I enjoyed the hell out of it and also that final win in Miami. Right up there with some of the really good years, I guess because it seemed Coslet was really turning us around for a while.
That, and we beat Miami to knock them out of the playoffs and us in! I also thought we had a great chance to beat Houston in the WC game. Oh well.
That game fucked us too, if you remember, a MNF game. It was like this year, all of us in the hunt. Despite the fall from 10-1 to 10-6, if Miami had just won their last-ever game at the Orange Bowl we'd have won the division and got the bye week, which we badly needed. Instead New Englands beat them, got the division and the bye, we ended up the Wild Card. I guess you can make the case that our Wild Card win vs KC at home got our mojo back, but a week off might have done wonders for that team, and they'd have played at Denver instead of Cleveland.
We had our chances in that game. I remember us failing in the red zone and Al Toon caught his only TD of the year in that game.
We got stopped on a 4th and 1, O'Brien threw an INT that wasn't really an INT but they never reviewed it.
I vaguely remember that. If it was 4th down it wouldn't have mattered, would it? Or should it have been a TD? I remember McNeil being stopped in the red zone somehow, too.
I listened to that on the radio -- the late Marty Glickman doing the play by play. (It was a good call) I was waiting to go to my engagement party. This was the first of many "just a minute, hons -- after this kick." Then of course houston (??) blew their doors off the next week.
