I'm hoping Sanchez was playing hurt at the end of last season. For the first 2 thirds he was good if not better then 2010. Then all of a sudden he started going down and coming up holding his shoulder but he never missed a series. With a backup like Brunell a hurt Sanchez was still better. Thats just a theory though he could have just regressed a bit or the whole Holmes issue.
He's only coached in two places. He took Cleveland to the playoffs and I think you underestimate how the team imploded when they found out they were going to Baltimore. I'm not contesting the notion that Brady has been vital for Belichick, he has but it still took a while for Brady to become as good as he has become. Brady was always a smart, accurate passer with little fear but he still had a pretty solid team around him. A very good D, Cory Dillion. That helps a lot. And that was Belichick. It wasn't until the Patriots D began to age where Brady started to take on more responsibility to the point where he's really become vital.
I think he was hurt too, right shoulder a stinger or something like that. H.e was randomly clutching it a lot but never missed a series like you said
While I do think Sanchez took a step back from his 2nd year, I think the offensive line took an even bigger step back, which amplified how schitty (see what I did there?) Sanchez looked. At this point, all we can do is be optimistic that getting back to ground and pound, and a new Sparano system will revitalize Sanchez and the offense.
As the OP for this thread, I never contended that the Jets were a better team than the Pats or that Sanchez was better than Brady or Ryan better than Belichick. I'm not even claiming that the Jets draft better than the Pats The whole point of the thread was to point out that, no matter what the Pats do in the draft, the experts drool over their picks. Since 2006, the Pats have had one good draft - 2010. Their other drafts have ranged from pedestrian to horrible. On paper, this year's draft was no better than many teams. Jones was not a productive college player and the head scratching second round pick and lack of value received for trading the other second round pick should have raised some questions. But they don't. The Pats could draft Bozo the Clown, Mo, Curly, and Larry, Harpo Marx, and Stephen Hawking and they would get an A and everyone would be gushing over Belichick's genius. That is the point. I am not comparing franchises or recent performance. I am not questioning the Pats string of division titles. I am questioning that the Pats are always considered to have one of the best drafts in the league when they have not drafted well recently (other than 2010, before the Pats trolls have a cardiac attack) I am also left wondering what was so special about this year's draft (while I concede it is way too early to tell) when there are as many questions about the players drafted by the Pats and the trades they made, as compared to other teams. Meanwhile other teams, including the Jets, are roundly criticized for their draft. And if you switched the Jets draft with the Pats, is there any doubt that the experts would be gushing over Coples and Hill and Davis and Allen , while stating that the Jets traded up again for a late rising non-pruductive end (Jones) and for wasting a second round pick on a 6th round player. At the end of the day, I realize that where the teams end up at the end of each season is all that matters, but the non-stop Patriot love fest for a team that has not won a title since 2004 and has not drafted well is nauseating .

You would probably have written the same post regardless of how the media actually reacted to the Patriots' draft, because it is your nature as a Jets' fan to whine about unfair media treatment. The reason the Jets are being criticized is that pairing a player with commitment issues to a team with locker room issues (who recently drafted Vernon Gholston at DE) just raises some obvious question marks... it has nothing to do with the Patriots whatsoever, and it shouldn't come as a surprise.
... and btw, NFL.com just recognized the Jets as having one of the best "Value" picks in the draft with D. Davis. The Patriots are not anywhere on the list. Hopefully that makes you feel better. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...h-late-draft-picks?module=HP11_content_stream
I've been watching the NFL since the mid 60's. The NFL has always been like an inbred hillbilly family, a circus freak show of genetics gone wrong a closed society that copies success dumbing it down until it no longer functions. Every once in a while an innovator like Stram or Walsh comes along and creates a whole new family tree that slowly goes from domineering to retarded. Since Monday night football and the advent of ESPN retired NFL hillbillies now dominate the airwaves. They, like their cousins they're having sex with, can't help but praise yesterday’s success because they can't even begin to see what's in front of them. BB's mild form of Asperger’s has allowed him to stay ahead of the rest of the NFL retards until the next superior mind comes along. Until it does expect his following of low IQ sycophants to continue to sing his praises.
The pats drafted Brady and you think he "developed" him in 1 year? I deal in reality, BB didnt develop Brady, they hit the lottery w/ a throw away pick in the 6th rd that they never thought would amount to anything other than a backup QB. he loved Brady so much that after the '00 season he gave Bledsoe a new, huge deal. Sometimes luck is on your side and it clearly was w/ BB in regards to Brady. It's ok to admit that. W/o Brady BB would be a 2 time failure as a HC and would be a DC somewhere today. I don't disagree, I think there were a ton of factors but Mark definitely regressed. Do I think now he is done and will keep going in the wrong direction? absolutely not, I am still supremely confident we have our QB for the next decade. He will never be a Brady but that's not an insult, he's a QB this franchise can win big with. He coached in Cleveland for 5 years and only had 1 playoff app. The team was 4-5 before they announced the move to Baltimore so I don't buy that excuse. In NE he was 5-11 in 2000 then started 0-2 in 2001 including an opening day loss to a bad bengal team. magically they turned it around as soon as Brady stepped on the field. Brady won 2 SBs w/o Corey Dillon, he wasn't as great of a player in the early days as he is now but he was always a winner and a guy making plays for his team to win. That's more important to me that great individual stats. The Pats D's in those years were good but vastly overrated, they won b/c of Brady. They don't even make the playoffs in 2001 w/o Brady even though the D was probably at their best that season.
You have to be the homer of homers to not understand how the media works. So media 101 says if you achieve things like the NYGs & NEPs have done you get air time. If you are constant losers like us you get no air time because the networks presume nobody wants to hear or talk about a losing FB team that has won NOTHING now in 43 years
Belichek is a genius, thus his draft picks are the best. It's the same with the Packers and Steelers - they can do no wrong. I keep hearing the "experts" saying the Packers and Steelers had the best drafts. The Jets are constantly criticized. Example - Cromartie has something like 10 kids out of wed-lock and we CONSTANTLY hear about that. You NEVER hear about Brady's illegitimate child. He got his girlfriend (a gorgeous actress) pregnant and dumper her for his current husband. Also, look at Rothlisberger. Smashes his head riding a motorcycle after the team warned him not to ride, then rapes (or maybe he just took advantage of) some drunk girl. You don't hear too much about that. These guys are the poster children of the NFL. They are anointed as G-ds and can't be criticized. Yet, take a loud, fat coach and he's not allowed to be a winner. He's there to be pummeled by the media.
You really don't know what the differece is?????? The Pats, Steelers and Packers are winning organizations, the Jets aren't.
So you're essentially making our point. Due to past success those organizations are subject to overindulgent bias & built in excuses that other organizations including the Jets aren't privy to. Thanks
The Jets have been a winning organization for the last decade or so. We aren't talking about the Victor Kiam Pats here.
junc, in the last 10 years the Pats, Steelers and Packers have 6 Lombardi throphies between them. The Jets have none.
