Remember, our coaching staff tried to trade for Brandon Marshall last year, so I'm sure they did their homework and have been pretty familiar with him for a while. It sucks that Revis isn't playing, I really wanted to see Revis vs Marshall Oh well...at least we play them twice.
I know the Dolphins have a good, solid D, but I find it funny how after 2 weeks most Fin fans think their D is on par if not better than ours.
I've seen mention twice of the weather being a factor in Miami. The temps in NY this week are in the mid to low 80's. We play a night game (8:20 KO) and the forecast is for high 70's, so I don't think it'll be a factor. Humidity, OTOH, may affect the Jets moreso than the Phins. Secondly, the Jets defense has spent more time practicing without Revis than they have practicing/playing with him. I know practice isn't the same as a game, but they're more familiar with assignments without Revis in the lineup.
You ain't lying. On the other hand, Miami opened with two consecutive road games... and Dan Henning (with a young QB) tends to call much more conservative game on the road vs. home games. This is nonsense. The Dolphins have shown the Wild Cat in EVERY game they've played (including pre-season) since they introduced it vs. the Patriots in 2008. No new wrinkles yet this year.... unless you count running the same WC plays to the left rather than the right vs. Minny.... and not one new wrinkle at all vs. the Jets... ever. At the risk of you rushing to call Rex on the Bat-phone... I will just say it was very interesting to some, that the Dolphins listed Tyler Thigpen as the 2nd string QB vs. the Vikings - rather than Chad Pennington. Wonder if that means anything? Agreed. Fumbling back two of them the play after they happened (one on the one yard line, to facilitate the Vikings only TD) and the other deep in your own territory.... is hardly indicative of a good team. But there was that one strip - sack - TD... Division games usually are. Yeah! What a coup.... the Dolphins being forced to reveal the same f'n offensive plays they've shown in every game they've played in since the 3rd week of 2008! lol As evidenced by the 353 passing yards and 3 TD's Chad Henne posted in two victories vs. the Jets in 2009 WITHOUT Brandon Marshall... and WITH a healthy Revis. It was a good strategy by Minny to go to a semi-hurry-up... to curtail Miami's substitution packages. I'm sure Schotzie and the Jets coaching staff will cook something similar up - if they can catch Miami in a package they feel they can exploit. Yeah.... exactly as desperate as they've been in EVERY game since 2008 when they introduced the package. Someone who obviously knows as little about your teams next opponent as you do... probably shouldn't make loud and confident pronouncements regarding them. Nope. I think your belief in that probably comes from the horrendous amount of bitching, whining, and complaining coming from Pats fans (I know, I know... but this bitching, whining, and complaining was even greater than usual out of the Patsie faithful) - that Miami chose to unveil the Wildcat package in a game vs. the Pats in 2008. <--- BTW... watching the Pats fans streaming out of the stadium prior to the end of the 3rd quarter... and being able to hear Gillette hot dog vendors hawking their wares on the television broadcast during the entire 4th quarter of the blowout.... was entirely worth it. lol But other than that initial "unveiling"... the Dolphins have run some Wildcat plays in every game sense then. I will say they curtailed it somewhat later last season - with Ronnie Brown on IR.... although I can't remember a single game when the WC wasn't featured for at least a few plays since 2008. That little scared basterd did seem to pull them out of his butt every time the Dolphins and Jets played... didn't he? lol Hate to have to agree with a Jets fans over a fellow Dolphins fan... but right is right... and Hobbes is right. As evidenced by Ryan's "we're #1 moment" at a Miami MMA event post-season, earlier this year.... I think your right, that the Dolphins are right up under the loose skin of "ole scrotum neck' Ryan. lol LOL Perfect anatomy of a Jets fan mentality. Winning doesn't prove your good... just that we sucked... momentarily... even though we're clearly the superior team.... even if you do it repeatedly.... over multiple years.... even then. LOL Did you just cut and paste comments you made prior to the two Dolphins-Jets games last season here? Good luck with that. Wrong. I realize you could care less about the correct information... but the song was written in 1972, for the Miami Dolphins. The notoriously tight-fisted owner of the Dolphins (Joe Robbie) refused to pay the songwriter anything for it... so in the late seventies he (the songwriter) adapted the lyrics to fit the "love ya blue" Oilers - and sold it to them for a few years for a couple hundred bucks. As evidenced by those two easy wins the Jets picked up vs. the Dolphins last year, with a healthy Revis.
cant wait for this game just got my tickets sucks living in florida but at least i get the jets once 150 for a lower prime seat gotta love nfl ticketexchange
Miami's D looked solid, Sanchez will be feeling the pressure more so than he was yesterday. They also played the Bills and a posse-less Favre, so take it for what its worth. Their O on the other hand, looked like complete shit, only slightly better than ours looked week one. I look for a close game, 14-10 Jets, with Miami's TD coming from defense or ST.
I think a little too much is being made of Miami's "shit" offense. Henne has been playing handcuffed much like Sanchez was in the first 2 playoff games of last season. Miami threw the ball a franchise low in the first half against Minnesota. Henne, while not overwhelming or spectacular, hasn't made any critical mistakes, and he's throwing the ball at around a 60% rate. I think people are looking at the offseason acquisitions (and return of Brown) and expecting something else. I think they just need to trust the defense a bit more and take some chances. It's almost as if they're (shocking revelation for the Dolphins), playing not to lose. I think the offense will take more chances against NYJ than they did with Minnesota because they feel they can really trust their D more. I think against Minnesota, they didn't want to chance it because they had no idea what Favre and AD was going to throw at the defense.
Thank you kindly sir! I promise not to abuse the power of this position for which you've nominated me. lol
9/19 Post Game Speech. Sanchez speaking right before T-Rich, that's awesome.
The Miami defense is good / solid, but they are being totally overhyped and given way too much credit. In Week 1 they played against easily the worst OL and probably the worst team in the NFL. In Week 2 they played a way over-the-hill Favre who has absoloutely NO mobility and a WR core that is in the bottom 5 of the NFL (w/out Rice) Favre can just about step up in the pocket. (anyone see him on CBS walking into the stadium before the game. Yikes! And that was only after Game 1. They are going to have to wheel him in to the stadium after he plays the Jets.) I see this game playing out with Miami coming out like being shot out of a cannon. 2-0, home opener, national TV, hated rival all lead to a lot of energy being spent in the 1st quarter. We weather that storm in the first quarter, play smart football by not being predictable or conservative and do not try too much - especially if Braylon is suspended. With or wothout Edwards we need to run, run and then run some more....Play action, screen plays with LT and moving Sanchez around will be how we make our points. Our Defense takes over in the 4th quarter making a play or two and causing a turnover. Jets 24 Dolphins 13
I don't see Braylon being suspended for this game. I will be interested in how the Jets run the ball. The Bills could do nothing against the Dolphins. Peterson had success, but I think that was more because he is one of the 2 top backs in the game. There were about 4 or 5 runs he had where he was hit 3 yards in the backfield, but refused to go down. There was one 23 yard run he had in the 3rd quarter (I believe) where I was amazed ... Gumbel or Dierdorff mentioned he was running like a combination of Barry Sanders and Jim Brown. He will be the best back we play all year without question. The one drive he shredded us for 57 yards rushing alone. I don't think a different back other than Chris Johnson could do that (at least that's what I'm hoping) With that being said, I don't see this being a double point margin of victory for either team. It will likely come down, as both games last year did, to the final seconds.
