True but the following is also true: Franchise. QBs are not always 1st Rounders. See Brett Farvre, Joe Montana & Tom Brady.
If the Jets move up- its Bush. You will not draft a QB #1 overall- no way. You still have Chad and many QBs will be out this FA looking for jobs. Many RBs too, Jamal, Shaun, Edge- but all carry WAS to big a price tag. A managing QB doesn't. PLus Curtis is old- everyone knows he's on his last leg, RB is as much if not bigger youth-movement need than QB. And when you have the most explosive RB to ever touch the football on the board you damn well take him.
Something I just thought of...maybe the compensation we receive from the Abe trade will be involved in a possible trade for the #1 pick? So for example...We get #29 or #22 from the Broncos... We would then package those two picks and a third rounder from this year and a 2007 second rounder to get #1... It would prevent us from having to trade our first rounder for 2001 which will more than likely be a high pick...
The problem with that thinking is that if Houston is going to trade out of #1, chances are they are still going to be targeting Ferguson. So in any trade up, the Jets would most likely have to trade #4 to move up to #1
Oh give me a break. This love for Reggie Bush really needs to be toned down. It is getting out of control.
Now that would be a terrible trade. Actually, if it's anything more than JA and #4, I'd be solidly against it.
I think if it cost us our #4 and John Abraham to choose #1, we would take it to get Leinart. However, I think Houston would want our #1 from 2007 too.
You never know. Houston does'nt need a QB or a running back. Take out the public pressure, I'm sure the coaching staff "knows" the Brick is the right choice for them if they want to rebuild their team. That's where the Jets have the upper hand as far as choosing who they would consider trading their #1 pick with.
He was the third best running back on the field in his last college football game. All time sounds like a bit of a stretch.
