A franchise QB is better than a franchise RB. See O.J. Simpson, LaDainian Tomlinson, Barry Sanders, Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson. Compare with recent RBs of Super Bowl winners- Antowain Smith, Michael Pittman, some guy named Willie Parker.
Rob, this is exactly what I posted about last week. You happen to think we're contenders in '06. Many others disagree. As long as that rift exists you're never going to get guys to agree with your draft ideas. You see us as a good team needing to patch some things up. I see us as a blown-up team in need of a total rebuild. If you understand what I'm saying then you'll know why you're having such difficulty selling your draft selections. The two scenarios are miles apart and require different solutions. I really think you need to go back to the drawing board and take a good, realistic look at where the Jets are today.
i threw this trade out there a few days ago and the only responsies i got were how dumb i was for thinking this could happen for reference...http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=686 well, anyway, this would be a sweet deal for both teams
On PTI, Richard Justice on the 5 good minutes stated that the Jets have a huge desire for Leinart and keep tossing Houston gifts. That's the whole reason of the rumors according to him.
We should just trade up to 2 then, unless the Saints want him too and don't wanna trade down. They also have no use for Abe, with Charles Grant, Will Smith, and Darren Howard at DE/OLB. I like Leinart, more than any player besides Bush, but if we get the #1 and pass on Reggie, they type of prospect that comes along very rarely, at a huge need (RB) with a young power back to complement him (Houston) it would be a horrible move.
You answered your own question. The Saints want him, so if he's the only guy you really want you have to get to #1.
Yeah, I was thinking of the rumor from a few days ago that had us trading up to 2 to take Cutler, indicating the Saints were willing to trade down.
**Smoke Screen Alert** Don't believe the QB BS ... Whoever has the #1 Pick, you have to take Reggie Bush If the Jets trade up to #1 Overall, I'll be shocked if they don't take Bush Reggie Bush is a special talent in the mold of HOF Speed/Wiggle Backs like Gale Sayers, Tony Dorsett and Barry Sanders ... the type of talent that is awe inspiring ... and while the QB's deserve their high rankings for the most part, there are no JOHN ELWAY type of talents in this bunch ... and that's what it would take to trump a Reggie Bush in this draft, a QB who's talent level is viewed like John Elway when Elway came out of Stanford As it stands, no QB rises to that level as a prospect ... not even Cutler whom I love {no secret there}, nor Young or Leinart who other folks love ... they may turn into HOF Players, remains to be seen, but as prospects they are not viewed in the same way as an Elway at Stanford ... so IMO Reggie Bush will be the #1 Overall Pick, and if the Jets trade up to #1, that will remain true JMO PS. Size does not make a difference in regards to Bush ... like most Great Speed/Wiggle Backs {Sayers, Dorsett, Sanders, etc.}, Bush is lacking in size but possesses AWESOME TALENT
Me too, that would be awful. If this trade gets done and Bush is wearing green come April, I would be thrilled.
I agree with most of what you just said. In the end I don't think the Houston Texans will recieve a big time offer and will just stay put at #1. However if we did move to #1 I would be very happy with us taking Reggie Bush or Matt Leinart...Matt Leinart has potential to be a elite top 5 QB in the NFL. Reggie Bush has all the talent in the world. In the end I would rather just stay at #4 and take Cutler...Trade Abe to the Broncos for #29 Hope to get Laurence Maroney with 29...if he isn't there take Marcus McNeil...and with the second rounder take Bobby Carpenter...
That won't happen, Toon ... believe me ... in spite of the QB rumors, the Jets will immediately start making plans to draft Reggie Bush if they secure the #1 Overall Pick ... IMO the rest is just a giant smoke screen
Because they DON'T have the #1 Pick ... they're trying to acquire it ... so maybe they don't want the Texans, or anyone else, to know they are trying to move up for Bush ... that might inspire more of a bidding war, or inspire the Texans to ask for a greater haul because they know Bush is an awesome talent ... better to play dumb and act like you are dealing up for one of the QB's But watch how fast the tone changes if they get that pick, and remember where you heart it first PS. Even if you have the #1 Pick, it's still not wise to let everyone know what you have in mind .. you never know if someone might blow you away with an offer .. at some point you have to peek your hole card, because the team with the #1 Pick is allowed to negotiate with their choice prior to the draft, but it's better to keep it secret until you start negotiating In the words of Don Corleone ... never let anyone from outside the family know what you're thinking
Great point~! I wonder how these guys expect to fill any of our holes with ANY BODIES if we have to fork out the $$ for the #1 pick This is without a doubt the DUMBEST-STAY IN LAST PLACE FOREVER trade I have ever heard! This is how teams become contenders, by trading down 3 slots, getting the #4 pick and a stud all pro DE. If the Texans pull this off Casterly should win executive of the year immediately. How can a team that needs so much give up so much for only 1 body? Also, never forget the drop off on defense once we say good bye to Abe.
news flash we sucked last with abraham. it wont change much trading him. espcieally since its likely were switch to 3-4. more than likely Drob and Ellis are the De's. big guys ala seymour and warren
