I know Leinart will never reach the level of Fiedler but I did hear he has some potential to become almost as good.
That doesn't matter, I DO NOT want a QB in round 1 (especially another weak-armed qb). We need a RB, it's either bush or DeAngelo. I like DeAngelo, but if we can get Bush, you go for it! We can sign or trade for a QB.
Not one capable of being a franchise QB, which believe it or not is our biggest need, and the most important position on the field.
I know the FA market ain't looking to great right now. But with Bush in the backfield, we just need someone that is above average. Maybe Jon Kitna, Patrick Ramsey, McCown, or take a chance on Brees.
Read the above post, if and when you have the chance to get a franchise QB you take it imediately. I'm tired of this stop gap, average QB bullshit.
I don't agree with the above post. I don't think a draft QB (leinart, cutler, young) will be effective immediately and an FA QB I believe will, especially with someone like bush or deangelo in the backfield.
Ok...i just don't understand why you would want someone to be successful immediatley when we're not gonna be good for 2-3 years.
It's not about who will be the most effective immediate. There isn't a single QB on the market who has the ability to be what Leinart can be in 2-3 years. This is a long term thing. For some reason, you can't accept the fact that this team will not be built to compete next year. But that is the case here.
This is what I don't understand about a good amount of posters here. I'm looking for us to be contenders in 06 and know we will some good offseason moves. We got a good team and a nice knew coaching staff, just gotta fill in a few holes. We will NOT have to wait 3 years to be good.
Believe what you want to believe, but I have faith in my team and I know we will be contenders in 06. I don't get how you guys just assume we are going to suck next season.
It is extremely possible that Matt Leinart is the #1 pick of the draft. Bush is considered the consensus number one because he is the most talented player in the draft. Need also has to play a role. So does the importance of the quarterback position, and the relative ease of finding a reliable starting RB vs QB. - The Texans have solid options at BOTH halfback and quarterback - The Saints are set at HB as well, and are drooling over Matt Leinart. They had their try with the scrambling QB, it didn't work, they are going back to the pocket guy. - The only way for a team that wants Matt Leinart to get him, is to trade for the #1 overall pick.
