I mean I think it’s pretty obvious what everyone’s alternative would be… Roll with Mike White or Josh Johnson for a few weeks considering Flacco is terrible and we aren’t going anywhere this season and also save a sixth round draft pick in the process?
Maybe because Flacco is older than LaFleur and more experienced Flacco can tell him everything that's wrong with his play calling as long as he's not going to be removed. There may be a comedy series here in the works.
And if you couldn’t trust them whatsoever then it should have been addressed in the off-season. Any way you look at it makes the Jets brass look like a bunch of morons
Totally agree, who cares about the 5th rounder, but we should all be very concerned about the panic nature of this move...They made a conscious plan to not sign a vet to back up/mentor Wilson, knowing that it's unlikely he'd play every game as something always comes up...So, I'm sure they said they'd go it with White if/when needed...But now that the wheels have come off the train in a way no one (especially JD/Saleh) could have predicted and they're all under siege now. They're trying to get a W in any way possible to get out of this football hell and it's a bad sign to be this panicky...it means they know how bad things are but can't fix it.
The main thing was we should have signed a vet in the offseason instead of having to trade for one when it came to this. I was just saying an hour ago that maybe we could consider offering Phily a 5th for Minshew, their second string. We got Flacco, their 3rd string, for a 5th. Plus, he has shown he has zero interest in mentoring a young QB, so that part is a bust. It should have never come to this and the chickens have come home to roost.
A friend of mine texted me before I found out and asked what I think of him. I thought that was weird. I said he used to be a top 10 qb and he fell off quickly, and that I didn't even know who he played for. Sweet.
Also how is Cam Newton for no picks not a better move? I don’t want him but he’s a better player and wouldn’t cost a pick. Wow this franchise…
If Flacco can help stabilize the offensive build he is a decent pickup. That's a big if but it is the reason to make a move like this.
This trade might actually be solid. It's not like there are ever offensive lineman or run stuffing linebackers in the late rounds. We all know the only position you can get in the 5th and beyond are hybrid 215 pound safeties and we have tons of them already.
Conditional 6th rounder per Scoop Schefter. Edit: could turn into a 5th if Flacco grooms his eyebrows.
They weren't lying when they said they were going to fix all of the problems with the offense. Everything's fixed now. Is it too early to start talking "PLAYOFFS!" (in my best Jim Mora voice). I mean, seriously, thank you Joe Douglas for this move and getting my enthusiasm up to levels it hasn't been since we went into Foxboro in the 2010 playoffs and kicked the Pats in the teeth. Who do I talk to about Super Bowl tickets? Flacco! Flacco! Flacco!
