This is a really good post and question at the end. I'm drawing a blank on the question. I've got nothing.
I do think the fan base collectively agreed that getting Jamal Adams for multiple first round picks+ was a good move. I might be misremembering but I also think most were happy with Darnold even though it didn't work out. I also liked the Bowles hire and still think he's a good football coach even though he also didn't work out. Outside of that, there hasn't been too many moves that everyone's liked.
I might've misunderstood his question but I thought he was asking what moves we've made that the fanbase universally hated that turned out to be the right move.
No you understood it correctly. My dumbass didn't read it right, I went the other way with it. I can't think of too many.
I don't remember if the Q pick was met with universal disdain, but many here including me didn't like it because it seemed like we were adding yet another interior DL. He showed progress last year, but hasn't done much so far this year. Checked his numbers and has 3.5 sacks, halfway towards his total last year, so maybe he has done more than I thought. I hope he picks it up soon and gets extended.
At issue is the fanbase never universally agree--there were guys wanting to keep Sanchez, guys wanting to keep Schotty cause it would hurt sanchez to have a new OC, guys wanting to keep Darnold etc. Getting rid of Idzik was probably the closest thing to universal. Even now there are guys saying the Flacco trade is a good deal.
Uhhhh what? Why on earth did we make this trade again? Was a backup for our backup really worth a 5th or 6th? I'm sorry but Douglas is an idiot.
If that is true then it's not a conditional 6th--its a conditional 5th that reverts to a 6th if the condition is not met. Unless the NFL uses vernacular different from what a logician would. A conditional 6th means if the condition is not met something else happens, logically.
I don't know what's more disturbing, the Jets front office trading a pick for a backup, actually thinking White is better than Flacco, or lying that White is better than Flacco for no reason.
It's on the jets twitter as a "conditional 6th" so he's just reporting that. I guess we'll find out in a few days--but Cimini also said we still have all our 5th rd picks in 2022. Leave it to the NYJ to be so ambiguous.
