Garbage time snaps & forgettable starts early are still seeing actual playing time. Thats all im saying..if he goes in for literally 3 plays at any point between rookie year & yesterday, we’re not having this discussion. But you’re gonna have to better explain how him playing even for 1 series in week 16 or 17 in 2016 or 2017 when the team is out of contention & the QBs in front of him sucked does anything to set off 50+ other players. In fact,if we surveyed those locker rooms i bet there were actually players who felt he deserved his shot.
Please Doctor explain to us why this football player is weakest player youve ever seen? How are you actually comparing his strength to every other football player? How come he never was injured in college while other college players suffer the same injury issues that NFL players have to worry about? You really need to stop with all the "worst ever in the NFL", "weakest ever" etc type statements. Especially when they have nothing to do with things like fact
Bowles wanted to "win" some more and give us the 10th or 12 th pick in the draft..we needed to tank and Bowles was selfish/stupid
I could be wrong but it seems to me that he was probably just plain incompetent. Playing time in the NFL is earned. If Hackenberg was at all competent they'd have no good reason to trade him as he could have made for a nice long-term backup. The Raiders will likely cut him and we won't get any 7th rounder.
It was typed "tongue-in-cheek". Insinuating that it's in the Jets favor for another AFC team to be playing Hackenburg, and thereby not contending for a playoff spot. i.e.: Playing Hackenburg, even for just one play, is always in the interest of the other team.
Actually its the fans who cant see the big picture, who are selfish/whatever in thinking teams should and do tank
Never injured in college because he ran an extremely limited route tree that didn't allow his brittle body to come into contact with defenders. In the NFL his sloppy route running and weak frame is man handled by defenders, his ability to track the ball is also one of the worse I've ever seen, I'm not going to stop with that because I truly believe it, Devin smith is the worst route runner and weakest reicever I have ever seen. And Darron lee is the worst pass coverage linebacker I have ever seen, and that has factual basis so not gonna be sorry about that my fair feathered friend. We can all admit that Old uncle Mac got deiceved by speed and splash plays vs Bama in the championship game, that's the only reason Smith was taken that early.
No one should ever believe this. No one can't predict that a player who was injury free in college would suffer a career threatening injury in the NFL. No GM should ever be blamed because a player blows out his knee, no player should be labeled a bust for blowing out their knee, no one should claim a players knee blew out because they believe the player was weak. Another of your wording you've ever seen exaggeration lines I see. Love that you saw so much in so few plays from Smith. All of 3 starts as a neophite with garbage at QB. You really should stop with the over blown absolutes
it depends on the roster and injuries. obviously the coaching staff thought petty was better because he got the nod when mccown went down. and based on pettys play that's sad. I could probably play better then petty did. For the examples i listed it was likely a lot of injuries and no other choice for those players. If he went in for 3 plays and handed it off all 3 times what would that show? The Brohm one was probably the best example. 2nd round pick, didn't get a snap his rookie year and then released. at least we gave hack 2 years to prove he was worth a roster spot and clearly he didn't.
A lot of high school and college coaches probably don't know correct techniques, and the rest who do, are not gonna teach that technique if it means that star players need to sit or struggle while focusing on mechanics. Many of them (football players) get by on talent, size, strength, speed alone until they get to college.
I remember when I started watching football too. You should watch more, I think you’ll enjoy it and learn some stuff along the way.
28 yards per reception he had in college which is absurdly high and it's not a good thing...if you don't think Devin smith was anything more then a limited route splash play specialist you are out to lunch, he had a extremely low chance of translating his game to the NFL. You have to be able to run some semblance of a route, and Devin can't . The signs were there and Mac was baited by one of the Worst route runners in NFL history
Bowles is not a Coach..we are lucky we lost enough games TO GET A FRANCISE QB Do you think for a split second we would have SAM DARNOLD in training camp by Bowles gaining some slop to pad his resume while we suffer decades without a good QB????????!!! Put your thinking cap on..no one admits they lose games ..but smart Coaches and Owners know how to set it up for a good draft pick..look at the Giants this past season
Holy fucking shit Batman they're are some atrocious notions being spouted here. It's hilarious...at times
Yes but that anti kneeling thread is the WORST ever thread in Jets forum history! It's the Devin smith of threads, all it has is speed and splash posts such as my own! I'm surprised it hasn't been cut yet tbh !
