Bray probably woulden't even be the No.1 in NYJ with Cotchery off to a hot start. Braylon got DOUBLE teams in CLE with Stallworth or a Joe J. on the other side usually(Well a safety got Winslow but besides the point). Braylon won't see double teams as much here and I think its something very underrated that has to be taken into consideration. I also think Edwards is a good blocking WR which can help the run game.
Why do people in Cleveland call him the Queen Wolverine?? I've seen that posted a few times on some Cleveland sites.
i love the trade and this is coming from one of Stuckey's sole and lone supporters. check the old draft posts I was extatic we got him in the 7th out of clemson. that being said Edwards is an enormous upgrade. I literally was asleep and found out of this trade VIA text through my friend whos a Phins fan. he kept talking how edwards cant catch(literally like 3 msgs just about that) stuckey looked good and we also gave up picks. i said its a 3rd and a 5th. and edwards will allow keller and cotch to get 1 on1s and as good as stuckey has looked hes had key drops/non catches. his instant reply was "oh fuck, i forgot about cotchery" then he got real quiet cuz even then HE realized how much this opens up our offense. and if they want to keep doubling cotchery and keller edwards WILL be open and Sanchez throws a more than catchable ball. i like this trade, i really do. although this falls under the "only time will tell" variety. I think it was a no brainer for us. I also told him how good did Randy look in Oakland. and whens the last time the QB play was impressive in CLE? oh when Edwards appeared to be a top 10 WR in 07. thats right. ever since then the Browns are slowly becoming the raiders. nobody can succeed like that.
In 2007, he had 80 catches for almost 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns. If a Jets receiver had that kind of production, I'd get a boner.
Well Dallas completely overpaid. I'm not saying we gave up a little much because I think its a great deal. But the casual fan may look at that and say "shit, two players AND two picks?"
Here's the post I was referring to. Look at the drops per reception ratio. All those great guys on the drops list have a lot more balls thrown there way so the # of drops is more acceptable. ... here are the dropped passes leaders from '07 and '08 with there number of receptions ordered by number of receptions per drop. Well hopefully this trade pans out and we will have a stadium full of boners- Wait, that doesn't sound so good!! haha I'm happy as shit right now, the Jets have been so aggressive these past 2 years it has been great!!
I agree. He has 28 TDs, and most of them are of the hightlight reel variety. There was a stretch in 2007 where he was making the nicest play in the entire league on a weekly basis. We've needed a guy like this for a long time. This should open up the field for everyone else and really help Sanchez.
Even if you assume Edwards isn't a #1, he's a 1.5 without question. That gives us two 1.5s. How many other teams can say that? A handful of them at best, and those are elite teams. We just became an elite team people. We were a playoff contender at 5am this morning. Now we're a Super Bowl contender. Yeah. I said it.
interesting this happens as soon as the crabtree thing comes to a close. not a bad trade. guess the jets FO really did think they needed to upgrade the WR position. something most on this site refused to believe. jil
At the end of the day, I think most of us belielve that he is an upgrade at the position. Chansi was our number 2 so the question is who is going to be the number 3 wide out? There is arguably a serious talent drop off from 2 -3 now. Maybe Clowney will see the field more? Although, there has been this trend of Tannenabum lately to trade picks for players. Now that we have given up our next years 3rd and 5th round picks, I think we also gave up picks for Sanchez, how many picks do we have next year? Our OL is aging, Ellis is up there as well....
ok...for the people talkng shit about him dropping balls..you do realize the guy nearly has a 16 YPC average for his career? you'd be hard pressed to find an elite receiver with that average. Not many receivers has as many big plays as him. the deeper you are, the more drops you're going to have than on a short slant. he's not a screen receiver either so think about during a season how many receptions that can account for.
The drops per reception stat was a lot more telling. It's not useless. Edwards obviously has a problem with drops.
